yeah, try going to a show at irving that's in the $15 range... they charge the same thing in surcharges! it becomes $30 per ticket.

3 arcade fire tix cost me $118.

This coming from the same guy who complained about Webster Hall. He's a whiny lil fella isn't he.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 12:13 PM

This is the CMJ finale, Wolf Parade might be an opener, and it's a BENEFIT show at the Summerstage (IMHO, one of NYC's best venues) to see a fantastic band that could very well be playing Hammerstein next time around. I gave up my $ with ease.

Posted by Chris | July 15, 2005 12:17 PM

Yeah, but the $8.30 per ticket you pay in surcharges doesn't go to SummerStage.

I've seen both Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire, and together, they're not worth a $42 ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 12:22 PM

umm, if you don't wanna pay the surcharges, thengo to the irving plaza box office. my friend was on line, and said there were only thirty or so people on line.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 12:33 PM

the surcharge is a little bit cheaper (7.45 instead of 7.95) at www.cc.com

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 12:36 PM

"I've seen both Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire, and together, they're not worth a $42 ticket."

Then don't go and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 12:36 PM

Amen

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 12:40 PM

I bought mine at irving plaza box office. $30 each. I had trust it wouldnt sell out immediately. It probably will last all day.

Posted by Jerry | July 15, 2005 12:48 PM

I don't care if its a benefit for no-armed kids who can't feed themselves, for 42.50 they can eat shit.

but.... wolf eyes
but... cmj
but... benefit.

dorks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 1:26 PM

Wolf Eyes??? you are an idiot... go back to the Ozzfest comments...

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 1:28 PM

Yeah you show 'em by correcting the name of Wolf Parade!

Or...umm...play into his hands by calling you a dork and you correcting him about obscure Canadian band...and...oh.

You lose.

Posted by Eric | July 15, 2005 2:32 PM

Summerstage "benefit" shows are hardly benefits for anyone other than ClearChannel...

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 2:44 PM

Arcade Fire!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooo!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Posted by Sean Mercutio | July 15, 2005 2:45 PM

Well, since I am the only human being Dave talks to on a daily basis, he has time to save bits and pieces of our conversations and post them on his blog out of context. Not that this is out of context, but it probably does look like I am bitching a lot.

Posted by Neuman | July 15, 2005 2:47 PM

"Summerstage "benefit" shows are hardly benefits for anyone other than ClearChannel..." - can you support this statement with facts or are you just spewing more nonsence?

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 2:48 PM

Arcade Fire was an obscure canadian band just a little while ago.

Wolf Parade won't be for very much longer. I'd hold your tongue asshole.

Posted by chris | July 15, 2005 3:52 PM

Yes, Chris, one day Wolf Parade shall rule the earth and I shall pay for my sins for once calling them "obscure."

On that horrible day, punishment will most likely be meted out by members of the Wolf Parade street team, or if unavailable, meek fanboys such as yourself.

Posted by Eric | July 15, 2005 4:09 PM

"Yes, Chris" - no, it's "Yes, chris" that capitalization makes a big difference. :p

Posted by Chris | July 15, 2005 4:16 PM

AF's EP was awesome. Wolf Parade is just an okay band, their stuff just isn't in the same league. Sorry, I don't see them "catching fire." ;)

Posted by DrJimmy | July 15, 2005 4:39 PM

AF's EP is absolutely horrid. There is two decent songs on their, neither of which even hold a candle to Funeral songs.

Posted by Chris | July 15, 2005 8:00 PM

opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one

Posted by jd | July 15, 2005 8:18 PM

people who say lame cliches are like assholes.

oh yeah, i have to finish it...because everbody's got one. (that makes no sense)

It says on the Ticketmaster site that Sound Team is opening this show with Arcade Fire.

Not much info about them on the web, but I was able to track down these:
this and

Official CMJ times list the following:
Bell Orchestre 7:00 pm
Arcade Fire 8:55 pm

Sound Team is definitely playing, but no mention yet. No Wolf Parade either

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 23, 2005 4:39 PM

After summerstage it looks like 169 Bar is the place to be.

The Heavenly States 11:00 pm
Cloud Cult 12:00 am

Posted by Chris | August 23, 2005 4:50 PM

Have you all heard of Sound team before? I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere, unless I'm missing it...

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2005 5:33 PM

they've been mentioned in the comments of this site a few times as opener for this show - that's about it.

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 23, 2005 5:36 PM

...waiting patiently for the vitriolic backlash against "post-rock" (e.g. Arcade Fire, BSS, Wolf Parade et. al). I'm usually very anti-backlash, but, I just do not get this stuff. Nor do I get all the future lite FM singer-songwriter soft jams seeping all over Blogsville.

Now please, before you pounce Canada-core acolytes… I am just disagreeing with and stating a different opinion. All of these bands have more than enough defenders, admirers, and accolades on the interweb. There is no need to sully yourself by attacking diversity of thought.

Hey, "Whatever happened..."

List 3 of your favorite bands of the past few years and we'll all have a good laugh.

Posted by Anonymous | August 23, 2005 8:07 PM

Hey Bill W.: The royal "we?" How close-minded can you be? Please rejoin your fascist circle jerk where opinions are not tolerated.

Hey "Whatever happened." Come to the meeting. You don't have to say anything the first time.

Oh, but where's that list of your favorite bands?

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2005 9:48 AM

Bell Orchestre 7:00 pm
Sound Team 7:50 pm
Arcade Fire 8:55 pm
