You may have seen the Pitchfork track review (four stars) of Bonnie "Prince" Billy & Matt Sweeney (Superwolf)'s live cover of R. Kelly's "Ignition":
genre: "wtf"
"Certified weirdo-genius Will Oldham has graced us with some unique takes on songs by Prince, Mariah Carey and Madonna over the years, so this recent live version of R. Kelly's Chocolate Factory trifle isn't too surprising. What is a bit shocking, though, is how well he and his Superwolf cohorts sidestep the ironic trappings inherent in such an endeavor. Sanding against the grain, they tarnish the original's just-waxed surface with a foreboding greasy-spoon groove that conjures an unsettling backwoods freakiness."

When Aqueduct opened for Pinback at Irving Plaza recently, he/they covered "Ignition." The place went nuts. They also opened their set by covering "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta."
