BSS & Apostle of Hustle & Feist & Stars & Collett
Some Arts & Crafts updates...
Stars, who just played the Canada Day concert in Prospect Park, has a video for "Reunion." Watch/Download it. (quicktime) (via Done Waiting)
Feist is on Conan O'Brien tonight (Thursday July 7th, 2005) (via For the Records)
Last week I heard Feist playing in Starbucks. This week NPR reviewed her album.
The Tofu Hut interviewed Feist, and asked her what music she likes. She suggested some. The Tofu Hut posted the MP3s.
Feist highly recommends fellow Broken Social Scenester Jason Collett's lastest solo album (that she also guests on). I've probably listened to it about 20 times. The track ("Hangover Days") with Emily Haines from Metric stands out (listen here), and I like it, but sixeyes REALLY likes it.
For the Records was at the Feist/Apostle of Hustle Canada Day show earlier this week in Toronto. Chromewaves was there too. Who was at the Apostle of Hustle show at Mercury Lounge? I heeard Dr. Dog stole the show (the same Dr. Dog playing with CYHSY @ Southpaw & with Son Volt @ South Street Seaport).
Largehearted Boy points to Broken Social Scene torrents here and here
Looking forward to Broken Social Scene with Dinosaur Jr & Stars with Death Cab/Decemberists @ Summerstage this summer...

That's SON Volt, btw.

dr. dog is also opening for son volt at the bowery ballroom on july 12th.
there were more people at the mercury lounge to see dr. dog than there were to see apostle of hustle. by the time apostle took the stage half the audience was gone.
and dr. dog did indeed steal the show. apostle was rather boring after the lively and inspired dog.

I saw Dr. Dog open for the New Pornographers (ya ya shaddup) at Maxwell's and bought the cd the following wek. The lead singer looks like Seth Green in a hobo outfit playing an oversized guitar. According to their website (http://www.drdogmusic.com), they'll be opening for CYHSY and Dirty on Purpose at Southpaw on July 20 too.

...which sucks since I forgot to buy tickets and it's already sold out :( (bah can't finish sentences.)

i saw dr. dog open for CYHSY in march, and have tickets for the southpaw show, so i didn't make an effort to catch their whole set lsat week - i was there for Apostle Of Hustle. i was disappointed that half the place left, and i disagree with the statement that AoH was uninspired. True, the wind may have gone out of their sails with folks leaving, but they put on their usual wonderful performace of very moving songs.

I haven't gotten tix to the Dino/BSS show, but I think I might make an effort to try and get there and listen from outside. Imagine I won't be the only one. Tix price is clearly the only reason this hasn't sold out.
