Finally, Goblin Cock in NY!

"Seeing as how Rob Crow and Armistead Burwell Smith IV, together known as Pinback, are collectively responsible for roughly 352 different bands, there's pretty much a steady stream of news to impart about their respective projects--"
"Crow's freshly minted metal band, the mellifluously monikered Goblin Cock, will also make their triumphant debut on Absolutely Kosher in 2004."

Wolf Parade is the band of the year, period.

yeah, wolf parade or man man. what is this cmj, anyway? seems like too many bands!

cmj is basically a 3 day music industry convention (similar to SXSW in Austin, TX). Every band comes to NYC and plays in every venue. It's tons of shows over three days. I updated the post to make it a little clearer.

Some other bands I would have liked to see at this:
Army Navy
The Oktober People
The Whole Fantastic World
The Alaskan Pipeline

what are your feelings on buying the CMJ pass? worth it or not? i remember standing outside mercury lounge last year with fingers crossed to get into that Arcade Fire show, but there were tons of people with passes also waiting! What gives?

btw, i saw Hockey Night last night. They are good, but I cannot get over how much like jammy Pavement they sound with a little Allman Bros mixed in. Its as though Malkmus had grown up in Athens GA.

cmj venues are only required to admit half the capacity to people with badges. After that, it's there call if they want to admit more people with badges are have people pay.
I know for the sufjan mercury show last year, they stopped letting people in with badges for free, and everyone had to pay
If I remember correctly, the mercury lounge is the only venue that doesnt do advance tickets sales for the cmj showcases. So just do what I did last year for the arcade fire....get there real early.
