Jandek to play NY, Austin & New Orleans
"Music's J.D. Salinger is apparently tired of seclusion. After three well-received concerts in Scotland and Britain the past two years, Jandek is ready to play his first stateside concerts. Tickets for the first date, scheduled for Austin, Texas on August 28th, are about to go on sale via the Jandek in Austin website. Details of the performance are hush hush, but the fact that each buyer is relegated to two tickets maximum seems to signal that promoters are expecting a swift sell-out. The Austin date will be followed by two early September performances in New Orleans and New York City." [Tiny Mix Tapes]
"Since recording Ready for the House in 1978, Jandek has performed a total of three concerts, the first in October 2004 and the remaining two in May of this year." [Pitchfork]

From http://tisue.net/jandek/live.html:
"One fan E-mailed Anthology Film Archives about the New York show and received the following in reply: “I can indeed confirm the performance. Tickets will be released on sale August 8th and will be available in person at Anthology Film Archives and Other Music. There will be no phone or internet sales. Price: TBA"

you can't compare a guy to JD Salinger unless he puts out a great album. i haven't heard glowing praise for Jandek from people who have actually heard his music.
