Nine Black Alps | Siren Fest | Be Your Own Pet

Nine Black Alps play the Siren Festival tomorrow at 1:30PM (on the Stillwell stage). If you get there in time to see them, and you stay through the end of Spoon or Mates of State, you'll be in Coney Island for over 8 hours. Is it worth it? If it is worth it, would you be better off with Detachment Kit on the main stage at 1:00?

Listen to the new Nine Black Alps EP at Myspace. and read an in-depth analysis at Chromewaves.

Be Your Own Pet, who play after Nine Black Alps @ Siren, are also playing the pre-Siren fest at Rothko tonight.

oops. freudian slip? fixed. thx

How bout half and hour of Detachment Kit and then head over to see NIKE (:p) Black Alps.

And yes, it is worth it. In fact, stay an extra hour and ride The Cyclone and get a hot dog (especially if you are vegan ;) ) after the show...lines are much shorter.

oh man. doesn't look like anyone will be getting a tan tomorrow.

Might actually be nice to not be hot as Hades and get a quick cool down from a passing shower. And once again, maybe it will encourage LESS people to show up, which is a good thing.

:p

so so true

It would be great if only like 500 people showed up. That would be ideal.

The more i think about the line up tomorrow, the more excited i get. It really isnt as weak as some people are saying.

According to the Voice that would be 169,500 less people than last year. :p

who is everyone lookign forward to seeing tomorrow?

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 3:00 PM

Think I might just bounce around until Q & Not U and then stay at the main stage for the rest of the day. I'm gonna be boring and say that I'm most excited for Spoon.

Probably get there for the Dears at 3, then Morningwood at 3:30, the Q & Not U at 4:10 then stroll around for a while until VHS or Beta.

Out of curiosity since I have never been to Siren, are there port-a-poties all over the place, or do we all just have to jump in the ocean to pee?

Plenty of port-a-potties. See for yourself.

and the lines are usually not bad at all.

Word to the wise - bring some sort of bag, because there is usually tons of free stuff everywhere. Also, alcohol on ice in some sort of thermos is the way to go. I have never been hassled by 5-0.

what time do people normally get there? is it crowded by noon? Just trying to figure out when i should hop a train and not feel like a sardine :)

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2005 4:38 PM

Doesn't start to get crowded until around 3 I'd say. I like to get there early and check out the booths before it gets too crowded and before I get too busy with bands I want to see.

i have to get there at 1p, but i'd like to see Spoon, Q & Not U, Dungen, Mates of State and the Dears. also, i'll be handing out flyers if you feel like being please take one.

What if you don't "feel like being" - do you just cease to exist?

:p

Does the stillwell stage get crowded fast? Want to make sure I have a good view and am not relegated to the back near the subway tracks.
