The Roots playing a "secret show" next week in NYC
The Roots, Louis XIV, Yellowcard, Fat Joe, Pete Yorn, and five other groups are involved in this corporate "secret show" thing. Ten groups will play FREE "secret shows" at undisclosed locations. The Roots are the NYC band (thank god). To find out where and when ("become an insider"), you need to register at this site. (they'll email details next week or something like that.)

How can The Roots be the NYC band when they're from Philly? Or am I misreading this?

I wasn't very clear. 10 bands are playing in 10 different cities, and the Roots are the ones playing in NYC.
