Across the Pond Narrows | Lemonheads Reunite, Doves, Interpol, Built to Spill, etc...
"The inaugural New York music festival initially dubbed Across the Pond has been rechristened Across the Narrows. Set for Oct. 1-2 at Brooklyn's Keyspan Park and Staten Island's Richmond County Bank Ballpark, the event will feature headlining sets from Oasis, the Killers, Beck and the Pixies.
The Pixies will anchor the Oct. 1 bill in Brooklyn, alongside Gang Of Four, Built To Spill, Rilo Kiley, Death From Above 1979, Mando Diao and Nine Black Alps. Simultaneously in Staten Island, the Killers will play with Interpol, the New York Dolls, British Sea Power, Lake Trout, Tegan & Sara and the Ordinary Boys.
The next day's shows will feature Beck, Belle & Sebastian, the Polyphonic Spree, the Raveonettes, Gang Gang Dance, Whirlwind Heat and a band to be announced in Brooklyn, and Oasis, Jet, Doves, the reunited Lemonheads, Kasabian, Jesse Malin, the Redwalls and an undetermined act in Staten Island.
Tickets can be purchased separately for each of the four shows, and a discounted ticket will be available for any two concerts. VIP package details are still being finalized." [Billboard]

Brooklyn is where it's at. This thing played out nicely.

The official website is already up at www.acrossthepondnyc.com. Tickets go on sale this friday according to the site.
Brooklyn is definitely where it's at. I'm mostly excited for B&S and Beck. This should be a very cool fest.

I wonder when ticket will go on sale and how much they will be?

tix go on sale friday the 12th at 10 am. $55 for each show, w/limited # of 2 day passes for $100 (accord. to the site). Pretty pricey, but worth it considering the lineup...

Yeah I totaly think it is worth it for that price. Also it seems that everyone could get a nice long time slot considering there aren't too many bands

So would it be possible to catch 2 acts in Brooklyn and 2 acts in Staten Island on the same day?
Posted by Mike Neuman | August 8, 2005 12:43 PM
it might be possible but you would have to buy ticket for both shows.
Posted by danfun | August 8, 2005 12:50 PM
And a kayak would be helpful.

Yeah, I wonder if there will be shuttles between venues.
Wonder if there are more bands for a 2nd stage because so far "The complete lineup of talent is not so staggering", just impressive

Well if this is the final lineup...then day 1 in brooklyn sounds amazing, day 1 in SI is alright... and the other 3 shows sound mediocre as hell.
Posted by Mike Neuman | August 8, 2005 1:09 PM
other 2 shows? yeah, sunday is weak.
Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2005 1:15 PM
Whoops, meant other 2 shows.
Posted by Mike Neuman | August 8, 2005 1:18 PM
they're saying 'special guest TBA' for both sunday shows, so who knows?

The line up is really not all that great. The Pixes and Built to spill will be great, but they have already played so many time in the city this year that I have almost no intrest in seeing them again. Especially in a large venue for an outragous price. All the other bands on the first night can be seen at a number of smaller and cheaper venues in the city. The second day is weak. Beck maybe ok, but he will likely play a folk set. B&S are useless live, easily the wimpest band i've even seen. The shows on SI are not even worth the trip to the rock. I think i'll save my cash and sit this one out.

anyone know if there will be seating/standing on the playing fields of both venues? I think the RCSB ballpark on SI didn't permit it for other shows so the band(s) ends up on a stage somewhere around second base and the entire infield separates them from the crowd. Is this their policy and what about Keyspan?
Posted by daveB | August 9, 2005 8:57 AM
When I saw Bjork/Sigur Ros at Keyspan, the entire field was general admission.
Posted by Chris | August 9, 2005 8:59 AM
Yeah the field will be GA but you will need a field ticket to get onto it otherwise there are stadium tickets which put you in the bleachers around the field. These seat will also be GA.

from a staten island advance reporter:
"Yes, fans are definitely going to be allowed on the fields! The SI Yankees chief operating officer said it was gonna be the largest capacity ever for a concert ... so, if it doesn't happen, he's a liar ...."
