Final NYC Hot Snakes show | RIP

Hot Snakes played their final NYC show last night (August 9th, 2005) at Bowery Ballroom. I bought a ticket at the box office a long time ago, the show sold out, i realized i lost my ticket, i considered stopping by Bowery Ballroom last night to see if I could get in anyway, but i didn't.

"They took it, they left it. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em, light up the stars. The Snakes are now another of the good, dead ones." [heartonastick]

ive seen every hot snakes show in nyc since their first at mercury lounge in 2000...this was the best by far and they all were great.

the band got better and better with age and while its nice to see a band quitting on top, i really felt like there was some void in music without them around. every other band is just weak in comparison in terms of quality, talent, and prowess.

the people who actually knew the band's music last night tore the place up. i havent had that much fun at a show in awhile. i felt like i was 16 again.

the band was just pummeling. RIP

I feel like they played for 3 hours, but when I checked my watch after the show, it was more like 90 minutes at most. They were flying through the songs so quick, so I got to hear pretty much everything I wanted to. Maybe they will be back one day.

The jocky dude who was going apeshit the whole show and then took off his shirt and threw it on stage? I wish that was my dad.

Sorry to hear you missed it, brooklynvegan. It was a hellaciously good show. I have no idea what will be able to fill the void that band's going to leave: nobody's purveying what they purveyed, so well.

The Jocky Guy did indeed go apeshit: I can't blame him really. That was by and large the most congenial pit I've had anything to do with since 1988 when they started letting the frat boys in. Didn't hurt that I'm actually in better shape now than I was in as a kid: used to be I'd leave a pit feeling like I'd been worked over. This time I felt like I could have done another set or two.

And I didn't even dent my hat.
