Fiona Apple Free! | album to be released & new video

Fiona Apple video

As you know, Fiona Apple performed live with Jon Brion in LA on July 30th. Well, she did it again...
"Friday August the 5th........she did 7 songs.......including EM, Paper Bag and Fast as You Can.......her solo segment was carefully prepared and FILMED.....some speculate for a possible EM dual disc, which was mentioned before......betcha it'll be out before long! I predict no later than November"

And the picture above...that's from the video she just filmed for "Parting Gift."

And here's musical proof: Download a clip of "Parting Gift" (mp3)

I was at this gig in LA and it was truly phenomenal. Jon Brion is nothing short of geeenius. After his first set (which included a synth cover of "Freebird", among other songs) Fiona Apple came out--shy, looking 16 and interspersed with giant smiles--and indeed performed those seven songs. Sparse, acoustic versions of EM with Jon Brion (who worked with Kanye West on his new album?) and "Fast as You Can" which was incredible as a mandolin player from Nickle Creek--who were great--accompanied her as well. Then, after she left to go linger in the shadows with her (I assume?) boyfriend from MadTV, she came back onstage to cover a Buddy Holly song. It was a great night capped off by hanging out with Danny Devito whose a big Jon Brion/Fiona Apple fan--what a crazy city, LA.

Have you seen this before? It's a number guessing game: http://www.amblesideprimary.com/ambleweb/mentalmaths/guessthenumber.html. I guessed 30878, and it got it right! Pretty neat.
