Former Moldy Peach Kimya Dawson is one of my favorite performers. She played Scenic Monday night (August 15, 2005). Her show consists of a girl sitting in a chair, playing guitar and singing. It's a simple set up that magically keeps everyone paying attention, laughing, crying, singing along, and clapping loudly. I can't wait for the next one at Cake Shop (NYC) on August 29.

Kimya is pretty magical. She sings about stuff that most people can't even talk about, and that makes it heartbreaking and amazing. I've never heard a performer more in touch with life and its ridiculousness.
