Les Savy Fav & Fred Armisen, wacky guys
Tonight is the Les Savy Fav, Thunderbirds are Now, Rahim, Fred Armisen show at Bowery Ballroom.
"Les Savy Fav vocalist Tim Harrington presents quite the live spectacle. He's chubby, bearded, balding and eccentric - like your weird uncle who spent time with a cult in the early '70s. Your really weird uncle. Harrington once cut off a lock of an audience member's hair with a knife, then burned it on stage....
...That kind of working-without-a-net spirit has endeared the band to fans, among them "Saturday Night Live" cast member Fred Armisen, who will be the opening act for the LSF in tonight's show at Bowery Ballroom. Armisen, a former drummer for punk band Trenchmouth, met the LSF through a mutual friend, David Cross, of "Arrested Development" fame, and has since toured with the band whenever "SNL" is on hiatus." Poor Fred. I felt so bad for him last night. And I thought he was pretty funny too. I was beginning to wonder if it was more the projector operator and not the projector. B I R D S are now! Great time last night, probably would have been even better if I wasn't completely deaf from the Ted Leo and Rx show. Oh, and I got Ted's setlist!

i remember once i saw les savy fav at warsaw in brooklyn. while the band played, he brought the mic out into the audience, walked to the back of the room, and got on his back and did a mock-backstroke on the floor back towards the stage. when he got to me, he bit me on the ankle and then gnawed at my cords for a few moments before he continued on. it was a fun show.
