The line outside made the July 4th Malmus/Yo La Tengo show look short. I didn't even attempt it.

I arrived at 2:30 and walked and walked and walked to the end of a line that did, in fact, seem even longer than the July 4th line. I decided to give it a try anyway, and it moved much faster than the Yo La Tango bidness (which culminated, in my case, with the line getting cut off about 10 yards ahead of me, shutting me out for all of Malkums's set. D'Oh!) Yesterday, I got in smooth like lemonade. Did anyone see that huge bouncer getting all up in that Dread's face because he had the gall to hand out flyers outside the venue? Then the cops came and pulled him aside for a chat, at which point the line started moving again and I missed the outrageous conclusion. Disgusting.
Oh, and M.I.A. was so effin good. Worth the wait. And her blonde back-up dancer was very, very... talented.
DIPLO seemed to forget the fact that most of us had been waiting on line in the hot sun for two hours, followed by an exhaustive Mr. Vegas set before Diplo took the stage and EXHORTED everyone to dance. Hooey. A lot of people were a little worn out from the heat and Saturday night and needed to sit down for a bit. Diplo may be the uber-music cognesceti, but a DJ should get people jumping with the sounds, not prevarications.

Uh, provocations. I'm still recovering, aright?

Hmmm. I showed up at 2:30 too. I just have a severe distrust of lines.

(And I like to imagine I live in a world where DJs get people to jump with prevarications).
