Pixies went Acoustic | Newport Folk Festival
" But why play Newport? In the absence of a new Pixies studio CD, what better than an acoustic performance disc? And what about a DVD too? Newport's audience didnt seem too bothered. There was much to enjoy on three stages over two full days of music. Still, Sunday's lineup included more crossover artists (Elvis Costello, Bright Eyes, M. Ward and My Morning Jacket's Jim James) among the dyed-in-the wool folkies and country music players." [Boston Herald]
and those in Boston will probably be interested to hear about "a special Monday night performance by Frank Black and his Pixies bandmates. The gig, part of the Club Date Series released on DVD by Eagle Rock Entertainment, will be at the Paradise Rock Club at 8 p.m...." [boston.com]

i managed to get a ticket and went up and back last night. holy cow. 29 songs, awesome set. i grew up in boston and always liked the paradise club for how small and intimate it was. never in my wildest dreams did i think i'd see the pixies in a room that didn't hold more than 500 people. wow.
