In early July, CMJ listed Prosaics among the artists playing the September 2005 Music Marathon in NYC.

A peek at Prosaics' website reveals a message dated June 2005...
"Prosaics have officially disbanded. We would like to thank everyone who supported us over the past three years and wish you all a fond farewell." (thx Chad)

So what's the story?

Mosloy at Matador was rather pissed off at me about this: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/reviews/1883

Then I heard they got dropped. Now they're broken up?

Yes their sound is/was akin to that of Interpol's but to brag Interpol's usage of the downstroke as patent and to put them on such a high creative pedestal is pretentious.

I enjoyed the EP.

I wasn't putting Interpol on a pedestal. I didn't have space to list that band's influences and transgressions. Mostly, I was trying to point out the folly of the label signing a clone act of their last big success. It's just unseemly.

I didn't enjoy the record, and wouldn't have even if they had come before Interpol and were on a label other than Matador.

They had shitty lyrics, pedantic musicality and pathetically copycat fashion sense.

This is a great wonder how to create such a thing. Cool place to find.
