Even if you didn't realize they were Smoosh, you probably noticed the (underage) leggy blondes standing at the back of the stage during Death Cab For Cutie's set at Summerstage last night (August 18. 2005). It makes perfect sense since they're in town to play three shows and Jason McGerr of Death Cab is Smoosh's drum teacher.

way to stalk an 11 year old, good job, bv!

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2005 11:42 AM

disturbing that thats how 11 year olds dress nowadays.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2005 11:48 AM

smoosh didn't play because gibbard didn't want to be upstaged by two 11 year old girls, especially if there's any chance he'll be able to bang them in seven years.

Looking forward to seeing the Smooshies tonite at BB. My wife will (try to) prevent me from rushing the stage.

underage leggy blondes???

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2005 11:59 AM

I'm kidding BV. I saw them too. I'm just commenting on the voyeuristic quaility of the shots.

not even close to barely legal leggy blondes? i'm disturbed

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2005 12:12 PM

eek....

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2005 12:28 PM

the new olsen twins certainly look poised for superstardom..The photos do smack of Humbert Humbert territory I'm afraid..Even down to the pre requisite "filmy chemise"

Posted by dan bunny | August 19, 2005 12:29 PM

how about "appropriately dressed for summer blonde CHILDREN"

Posted by nora | August 19, 2005 1:01 PM

That's appropriate dress for children??? gosh...

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2005 1:05 PM

yes, it's summer, and they're at a concert. big whoop. and second of all, when i saw them they were wearing t-shirts and shorts or jeans.

Posted by nora | August 19, 2005 1:26 PM

I'll let Jesus or Sufjan decide if they were appropriately dressed or not.

"Leggy Blondes" was meant sarcastically/humorously/whateverely. "underage" has been changed to "(underage)." Hopefully that makes it a bit clearer. The average person (that even noticed them) thought they were groupies waiting in the wings, and probably didn't realize they were children. (at least that's what I guessed)

shawn knows whats up:

"how about "appropriately dressed for summer blonde CHILDREN"" "yes, it's summer, and they're at a concert. big whoop." - says the girl with a picture of her ass on her blog

They channel the spirit of a hard parting Jon-Benet. Take that death!

How much effort would it take for some enterprising indivudual to make a Smoosh parody using Club Foot by Kasabian. "Smoosh, ah, ah , ah , ah, ah, ah ......Sleeping w/ the enemy..."

Posted by Jerry Lee Lewis | August 20, 2005 12:07 AM

Hey, hold up, wait a minute.... How about using Rush, Rush to the Ye Yo by Debbie Harry. "Smmosh, smoosh, to the ye ya.. oh oh..."

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2005 12:10 AM

Actually, R, I'm still off in the Phillipines. The weather here is lovely and (you'd never believe it) but the extradition laws are nearly non-existant - I think I'll stay here for quite a while.

BTW - I really liked the Zorro look you were working on for a while there; very sexy.

Posted by gary glitter | August 20, 2005 2:22 PM

what's with the constant touching of the hair?

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2005 6:48 PM

The fact that you are all calling them "leggy blondes" is what's actually disturbing...

They're tall for their age, yes, and blond and very "pretty", so then everything instantly becomes of sexual context. Ridiculous.

(BTW-She keeps touching her hair because it a consecutive shot of her fixing her hair...they're about to GO ON-STAGE! I'm pretty sure anyone else would be doing the same.)

As far as how they're dressed, mini skirts have been in since the 60's, get over it, you're just taking more notice because they have long legs. Neither one of them is even showing an inch of belly, which in this day and age, should be applauded. Their tank tops look more "hippie'ish" than revealing.

I think most of your comments stem more from jealousy that they *will* be gorgeous, after they're done being pretty... and they've already had more success in their lives at 10 & 11 than most of you over-critical losers will have in a lifetime! They've opened for Pearl Jam and Jimmy Eat World for Pete's sake.

You people are horrible...just horrible.

Mom
aka: Peeved "Leggy blond"

PS. They're musicians...not models, why don't don't you focus on what they're actually about. SHE WAS PLAYING DRUMS AT 9!!!!

Posted by Mom | September 3, 2005 12:33 PM

What an idiot...

First of all, they weren't about to go on stage, they were being "groupies" and hanging at the side of the stage.

Second, yeah, mini skirts have been in since the 60's, but on 11 year olds???

Third, they have only had success because they are a gimmick, a novelty act...

fuck off, mom

Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2005 2:35 PM

Smoosh is NOT a "Novelty Act", never has been & never will be.

Asya writes all of the songs - Together with her sister Chloe, they arrange the keyboards/drums.

Being Cute/Pretty is not a gimmick. They're normal teen & preteen girls.

Been following their career since the "Vera Project" show back in April 2003. Their live show will probably always impress me!

~Don't be afraid~

You go Mom! I have been following their career for a long while myself...And have met them at a few shows...they are very normal, well-adjusted young girls...They are far from a "Novelty" act...which you would know if you'd ever seen them live, or heard their CD...

and, btw, Chloe has been playing since she 6...Asy had been playing since she was 2...

Posted by Seattle Smoosh Fan | September 6, 2005 3:54 AM

whatever... these girls are talented whether you like it or not.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2005 1:59 AM

God, you people! For one, they are 11 and 13! If you think a miniskirt is inappropriate on a 13 year old, you're reaaaally out of the times. Also, it IS summertime. Would you be dressing in a sweater and jeans? Plus, have you people been to a high school lately???
Another thing:Why are you stalking these poor bandmates? They're just hanging out backstage! It's not like your a paid photographer or something, huh!

I can't believe it, my co-worker just bought a car for $70044. Isn't that crazy!

Posted by Betsy Markum | May 23, 2006 4:32 PM

They are 12 and 14 NOT 11. That would seem to make a tad more difference as girls that age are more into picking out their own clothes. And as far as I know they aren't tall for their age.
"Leggy Blondes" does sound more like some one who is attracted to them then interested in their music, which is excellent by the way.

Posted by smooshfan | July 14, 2006 10:23 PM

These pictures were posted eleven months ago when they were almost certainly eleven and thirteen years old.

I wonder if Jason McGerr has introduced weed to them yet.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2006 8:58 AM

She's trying to make a ponytail you pervs ¬¬'
And any 10, 11, 12, 13, 14... year old girl wears a mini skirt, it's not like we're living on the ninetieth century.
Plus, if you focused on their music rather than their legs you'd be much happier, believe me...
