Two Free Harlem Shakes Shows | Ezra Reich
The Harlem Shakes are playing at Pianos in NYC tonight (Monday August 15, 2005) at 7pm for free.
Then on Saturday August 20, they're playing with Ezra Reich and The Dashing Wildes in a brownstone in Harlem. It actually costs $5.00 and RSVP is required.
Ezra Reich is most likely at Don Hill's (Tiswas showcase) for CMJ on Sept. 17.

i would like to say i saw the harlem shakes open for wire back in 2003 (i think) at the bowery and they were the worst band ive ever seen.
they looked like a bunch of rich, liberal nyc high school kids pretending they were the strokes.

I saw The Harlem Shakes open for Shout Out Louds just last week at Mercury, and even though the soundguy was fucking up royally, they were great.
They do have a Strokes-y element to them, but the singer's voice and vocal style was absolutely fantastic, and the band itself was tight. They're definetly worth seeing for free.

I am starting to turn on this band because they play way too fucking much.
Why don't they just spring for a rehearsal space? I'm sure they could put it on their parents' credit cards. (BTW, aren't The Strokes rich liberal NYC kids themselves?)

while i dont think you can honestly fault someone for being born into a well off family and then having aspirations to have a career in music... i do think that you can fault someone for making poor, derivitive music...
so with that said, i have to fault The Harlem Shakes for the latter.

EZRA REICH is Fuking amazing!!!! he is also playing on friday at sin-e at 8...early but worth it.......
