2005 MTV Woodie Awards @ Roseland Ballroom Nov. 2

"mtvU, MTV’s college network, today announced the nominees for the “mtvU Woodie Awards”.....The Arcade Fire grabbed the most nominations with five, including “Woodie of the Year” – Best Artist, “Left Field Woodie” – Most Original Artist, and “Best Showing Woodie” – Best Tour. The Arcade Fire joins Gorillaz, M.I.A., Matisyahu, Death Cab For Cutie and 39 other emerging and influential artists that will be voted on by the college audience. Winners will be announced at the “mtvU Woodie Awards” live ceremony and concert event November 2nd at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City which will premiere on mtvU and mtvU.com November 10th."

Other nominated artists include Common, Motion City Soundtrack, the Decemberists, Saul Williams, Rilo Kiley, Kanye West, Bloc Party, and the Unicorns. Vote at MTVu. All categories and nominees below...

Nominees for the second-annual “mtvU Woodie Awards” are:

Woodie of the Year – (Artist of the Year)
The artists who made the biggest splash on the scene and on mtvU, yet somehow huge commercial success hasn’t intoxicated them just yet.

The Breaking Woodie – (Best Emerging Artist)

10 bucks says my chemical romance wins the best artist.. you know how anything with mtv works, the best never wins..

MIA deserves original artist.. i guess id be alright with Matisyahu or the Arcade Fire... but MeWithoutYOu.. come on all they got going for them is the whole christian rock angle

im a veteran of the whole christian hardcore/metal scene .. its what i grew up on before finding sex, booze and rock and roll to be more exciting.. i just think mewithoutyou isn't anything special

Cave In, Engine Down, The Mars Volta, Head Automatica (Glassjaw First), Thrice, Folly, Dillinger Escape Plan, Blood Brothers, Every Time I Die, The Fall Of Troy, and SikTh. pick any one of these bands and you will have something going for the "Woodie Awards". tsk....tsk....tsk....if only more people had an open mind to new things instead of restricting themselves to the same music that's been recreated a thousand times before...sigh
