CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH | CMJ 2005
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

"There were long lines in two directions down the street for this buzzed bill. Even though both local bands play in the city quite a bit, out of towners packed the house to hear what all the commotion was about (for CYHSY mainly)." [CMJ]

THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME | A WALL IN BROOKLYN
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

"I knew it sounded familiar! I dragged Jed out to photograph the graffiti I'd seen in Brooklyn on Baltic street between 3rd and 4th avenue." [Stereogum on the origin of the name]

CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH | CMJ 2005
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

"...Brooklyn's Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has signed a distribution deal with Warner Music Group's ADA Distribution. Reuters had an article on this the other day. ADA president Andy Allen called it exactly what it is: very unusual..." [Coolfer]

Thanks JJ for the pics of CYHSY's CMJ show at Mercury Lounge Friday night (Sept 16, 2005). I didn't go, but I did take pictures of the line outside. Jed Stereogum and Productshop were inside with JJ.

morning becomes eclectic was awesome....you'd think more people would of heard about it.

anyway, by far the best the band's ever sounded, though it was kinda hard to sit still in my seat and not make a sound.

Here come the haters. BV hasn't been writing too much about them. BV's responding to the will of the people.

If I may be pedantic for a second, there is no such thing as Warner Distribution. The distributor with which The Clap hooked up is ADA Distribution.

By the way, does the singer only have one shirt or are all his shirts the same worn, drab, olive t-shirt?

he wore an old drab phillies shirt during the philly show at the khyber.. it wasnt green

awful live band? Did I read that as one of the posts? What are you smoking crack?! I'm sick of this fucking junior high "king of the mountain" mentality that I notice pervades much of the music circles these days. Once someone starts making a little name for themselves you get all these haters out there. Face it - like it or not this band is damn good. They earn their props on all fronts. People are going to discover it and tix are going to be hard to come by, and assholes are going to try and shoot holes in your game because they are stuck in 7th grade at the bottom of the mountain wondering why they can never be king. Who gives a shit about his shirt. He can write with the best of them.
