what about the dave matthews band? they certainly influenced a lot of (college) bands.

maybe they are not 'cool' enough for the list

oh! and green day? they spawned a whole slew of pop punkie bands in the college circuit

DMB is not 'whatever' enough for indie folk.

if this were a list of the "top 25 bands that influenced college students to experiment sexually" very few of these bands would be on there.

Since next to nobody listens to college radio, there should be a list of the top bands on college campuses. DMB would be on it. So would Steve Miller, Bob Marley and Pearl Jam. I've always noticed a huge difference between what the station is playing and what the students are playing. There have been a lot more bands on campuses that were influenced by Rush and the Grateful Dead than were influenced by, for example, Slayer.

yeah, why do people always equate "influential" with "original" and/or "even remotely interesting"? geddy lee's influence on non-commercial radio simply cannot be underestimated.

Sup, the most influential college band of all time is obviously, and everyone knows it, The StuzzyMcQues. Their influence can not be underestimated. They influenced Elvis even though he's dead. John Lennon also sites the StuzzyMcQues as his foremost influence when he was around 30 years prior to them. Just before he siad the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, he also said these words, "The StuzzyMcQues, will be my foremost influence".
