CocoRosie | Pitchfork vs. Stylus
"Noah's Ark is one of the most annoying records you're liable to remember." [Pitchfork's 3.4 Rating]
"Noah’s Ark proves, again, that the Casady sisters are perhaps at the forefront of the overlabored ‘freak-folk’ scene." [Stylus' A- Rating]

Please...do expound upon this "freak-folk" thing. I've never heard of it.

Imagine latter-day Michael Jackson molesting to the sound of every bad Dylan imitator of the late 70s.
That or just watch the Devendra Banhart video.

I gotta agree with Pitchfork here. To be completely fair, I haven't heard the record, but I did see them open for Antony & The Johnsons a few months back at Town Hall and I just didn't like them at all. I don't get what all the hype is about.

I agree with pfork. It's not that good. Zero melodies where Maison was melody city.

I'm glad the hype is over and it's cool to hate them now. I shall keep loving them from my quiet corner.

I loved then since the first time I saw them live. Maybe I'm just reallllly weird.

What hype? A few blog mentions? I don't know the first album, but I really like this new album. I just wish they were opening for Antony at the Carnegie Hall show.

Pitchfork is full of close-minded people trying to be cool by hating or loving music - nothing in between. They lost me a long time ago.

Coco rosie is so overrated. They just plain suck. Every 'new' band in Seattle has been doing the same stuff for, like 5 years already. UGH!

I saw them open for !!! at SOB's during CMJ. Kick ass show, I seem to remember a beat-boxer, cellist, and haunting vocals. I loved it.
