Allen Toussaint If you weren't at Webster Hall last night, maybe you were at Summerstage for the hurricane relief benefit show.

Amphibologist just reminded me that Drive By Truckers weren't the only ones who played Webster Hall and Summerstage in one night. J Mascis played both shows too. "...and then things get crazy: lou reed walks on with his band with laurie anderson off to the side...the band that featured. dr. john and allen toussaint came out next, and the place went nuts. dr. john on guitar (!!), and toussiant laying some beautiful piano work..."

A Touissant plays at Joe's pub tonight, 2 shows. On Sunday, Elvis Costello hopped up and did two songs with him.

Very fun, cool, lai back benefit, you should a) read up and see how huge he is in terms of musical legacy, and b) go to Joe's. He's good and palys out rarely.

I'm confused...young indie kids getting all hopped up about Lou Reed, Elvis Costello, Allan Toussaint, Dr. John and others? What is this, some sort of 60s-70s love fest? Wasn't punk rock supposed to knock all these dinosaurs dead? Ugh.
