The Rapture are back | Shows @ Bowery & Crash Mansion

"After nearly two years of non-stop touring in support of 2003's Echoes LP, the Rapture have begun writing material for the follow-up. 'We have 25 things that are all pretty good.'" [The Village Voice]

"Yesterday we put you on to the current happening of the Stills, but the other band who's whereabouts were presently unknown was the Rapture. Though there were scattered updates about a month ago, actual music hasn't really been forthcoming until now, with the Rapture monkeys contributing a remix on the new Supersystem 12-inch for 'Miracle'" [Fader]

They have two NYC shows in October. The first is at Crash Mansion on October 6th, and the second at Bowery Ballroom on October 21st. Tickets are on sale.

thanks for the credit... aka anonymous tipster in comment section.... anyways bowery isnt strict at all... i mean as long as you have id, that says ur of age. what im trying to say is that theyll card you, but they wont look at anything but the date on the id, but thats how every place is on the les. 17 this past year and i went to every show i wanted to never turned down, bowery, pianos, living room, rothko, delancy, mercury, tonic, sin-e, etc.. and with an expired id..

The October 6th show is at Crash Mansion and not the pretentious over-priced, sex and the city wanna be, Canal Room.

Thank you anonymous tipster AND anonymous proofreader. :)

How is Crash Mansion as a venue?

Posted by Aziz | September 28, 2005 9:15 AM

Surprisingly decent, if you don't look at the corny logos all over the walls.

i missed this band so much. YAY!

*haha*

So true about the arm-crossed brooding audiences of NYC. At Supergrass last night there were only three people bouncing; and it was sold out / near capacity in the main room. What's with this city?

Posted by dirt | September 28, 2005 12:08 PM

was there an opener last night?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2005 12:15 PM

no there was no opening act. I got a pretty decent recording from last night if anyone is interested....btw, is Anton Newcombe stuck in nyc? and someone buy him a new shirt geez. I've seen him in that shirt in August and last week.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2005 12:39 PM

hah, thanks wes, now im in toronto for university so age doesnt matter as much even though im still not 19 hah

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2005 12:50 PM

anonymous: nice! a place where the age laws make sense! :)

i wonder if there is a good reason for venues in nyc to not make it either:
1. all ages, carded/wristband to drink
or
2. 16/18 and over, carded/wristband to drink

I don't think anyone was dancing at the Supergrass show last night cuz it was a sitdown, acoustic set, so most people didn't know what to do. I'm not slagging them off. I love the 'grass no matter what they do and they still put on a damn fine show. But it wasn't your normal, bouncy Supergrass show and I think the audience was unsure of what to make of it...

Hey anonymous person who recorded last night's Supergrass show:
Do you have a setlist? Please contact me via my blog (the link at the bottom of this message; leave a comment) as I couldn't make the show last night and I would thus really like a copy of it.

Does anyone know if the Crash Mansion has an age limit?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2005 2:33 PM

21+

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2005 3:47 PM

Hey I thought ya'll should know that the "show" at Crash Mansion is not exactly a show. It is in fact a party or a "rave". Which I do believe the Rapture may be playing. The party is a "Druzzi's Rave Club of Baltimore Party". Druzzi's also throw a splendid party in London and their affiliates have been throwing "D.R.C.B." party's since the mid nineties in Chicago at the legendary Schlitz Brew house on Maple st.
At this Druzzi's, Rub n' Tug will be spinning as well the Bangers. Also Gil Mantera's Party Dream will be playing early. So come early and dance all night.

Does that mean the rapture are gonna be coming on later?

i wanna try to squeeze in metric or stellastarr before the show.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2005 7:16 PM

You should probably "squeeze in" Gil Mantera and The Bangers.

I've managed to save up roughly $45747 in my bank account, but I'm not sure if I should buy a house or not. Do you think the market is stable or do you think that home prices will decrease by a lot?
