Walking Concert @ Sin-e, NYC | CMJ | pics
Back to CMJ Day 4 (Saturday, Sept 17, 2005)... After Chad VanGaalen's set at the SubPop showcase I left Bowery Ballroom to take a break. Then I stopped at Sin-e to check out Walking Concert before going back to Bowery to see the last few songs of Rogue Wave followed by Wolf Parade (which was followed by Towers of London).

Walking Concert is Walter Schreifels' new band. His old bands are Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand, and Rival Schools.

'Run to Be Born' was one of my favorite CDs from last year. Nothing trendy, just good solid stuff: Jangly pop ditties with a scruffy indie edge and a healthy sense of humor. "Aluminium" is great. As is "The Animals." And the title track. And the rest.

I saw Walking Concert's CMJ 2004 show. They were excellent. Missed them this year.
