White Stripes @ Keyspan Park, Brooklyn, NY | pics
If I had more time, I'd post more photos. Here's three from Saturday night's (Sept 24, 2005) White Stripes show at Keyspan Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NYC. This show gets an A+.

That was such a GREAT show! They were really playful and full of energy. My friend and I danced pretty much through the whole show. Glad to see pics, as I was back in Section 2 and without my glasses.

How far were you from the stage to get those shots? Just wondering where the best seats are for next week :)

Saw them last night. Amazing performance. I am in awe.

I, for one, would appreciate more photos. These three are great!

Does anyone know what cover songs the White Stripes did at the Saturday night show? One song sounded like it could've been done originally by Elvis, while another one sounded Ray Charles-ish. Thanks!!!!!!
Also, please post more photos? (And, lastly: how did people get passes to the floor? I was trapped behind a net! I didn't see any designation between floor and stadium seats when I bought the tix online. Please help me understand!)

Great show Saturday night, even from our distant perspective. "Jolene" was the highlight for me. Jack and Meg are amazing performers - they give their all.
NPR is webcasting Tuesday's show from DC. Check out npr.org

The tickets were designated "field" or "stadium" (seats) and you were directed which way when entering the park. We were behind the "net" also - would have been great seats for a baseball game. Midway through the Stripes set, some guy ran down the aisle and leaped over the wall, got under the net, then scurried and disappeared into the field crowd. It was an impressive jump, he maybe dropped 6 to 10 feet (?), rolled over and got up and ran. Security didn't have a chance. I suspect the jumper was properly lubricated in order to make his leap.

One of the cover songs was by Tegan and Sara (Walking with a Ghost?).
I'll definitely post more pics.

Does anyone know what song they segued into after Walking With A Ghost? I've been trying to figure it out and I haven't been able to find a setlist to assist me in figuring it out.

Never mind! Ha!!! Danfun put it up while I was writing my post. Thanks Danfun.

That Ball and Biscuit>Hello Operator, Union Forever. Is some of the best playing I have seen them play in all of the 15 shows I have seen over the past 5 years. It was just great.

No "Take, Take, Take"?!? That's a stunner!
Posted by johnny | September 26, 2005 2:08 PM
Yeah the lack of "take Take Take" was disappointing. Especially because I didn't hear it in cincinnati either. IMO it is the best song on GBMS.

2 things:
1. That Tegan and Sara song is great. If anyone has a recording of the White Stripes covering it, that would be clutch.
2. I really want to see Meg White naked. I've totally got a thing for her. I figure they need to start the downward slope of their career before it'll happen. But I think it will.

Here are my photos of the second night

Also these show were recorded by people in the audience. And one guy I talked to said he was going to defeinetly seed the second night. Let's hope that they do indeed surface.

nice rack, Meg.

I know that someone else already posted the setlist, but I just wanted to add that other than the Tegan & Sara song, the covers they did on Saturday were "John the Revelator" (a Son House song that's on their 1st album) and "Boll Weevil" which is a traditional folk/blues song. AFAIK, they've never recorded it, but they do play it live often. It's on a Peel Sessions CD that I have.
I agree with all of the above. Amazing show. And The Shins were really good, too. And I'm right there with the person who wants to see Meg White naked. One can only dream...
Posted by incarag | September 26, 2005 3:27 PM
Also Death Letter is a Son House song that is on De Stijl
And Party of Special things to do is Captian Beefheart and Love Sick is Bob Dylan
Posted by danfun | September 26, 2005 3:33 PM
But Incarag and Matt... would Meg (or anyone) want to see either of you naked?
Posted by drewo | September 26, 2005 3:38 PM
I'd rather see Jack naked. Let's have a ball and a biscuit, indeed.
Yeah, it was a GREAT show!
Posted by Jen W | September 26, 2005 3:55 PM
drewo--so far my wife is the only willing participant I can find, and even she tends to gag when I display myself in various states of undress. Meg is not cheerleader hot. If she wasn't in White Stripes, I could nail her.
With my wife's permission, of course.
BTW--the Shins opened? That's some show.
Posted by Matt | September 26, 2005 4:40 PM
Shins & Brendan Benson on Saturday.
Shins & M. Ward on Sunday.
Posted by brooklynvegan | September 26, 2005 4:45 PM
Point taken, but somehow I don't think she'd wanna see you naked, either, drewo. A guy should be able to indulge his fantasies a little sometimes.
And thanks to danfun for reminding me that they played "Death Letter" on Saturday night (and for the awesome photos). De Stijl is my favorite album of theirs, so I should've remembered that one. D'oh.
Posted by incarag | September 26, 2005 4:52 PM
Oh and I forgot to add that "Jolene" (a Dolly Parton song) was one of the highlights for me. I get chills every time I hear their version of it.
Posted by incarag | September 26, 2005 4:54 PM
Also did anyone get any of the polaroids that jack was taking and throughing into the audience? I would love to see those pictures.
Posted by danfun | September 26, 2005 5:25 PM
The Shins and M Wardf would'vve been the one I would have wanted to go to. Transistor Radio is a great album.
Posted by Matt | September 26, 2005 6:14 PM
the (Saturday) show frickin' rocked!!! I agree with the A+. It was my first time seeing them (Thank you K-Rock, for giving me tickets when I least expected it)!
I love Meg...
Posted by henry | September 26, 2005 10:06 PM
I saw them on the 25th, I really wish I went to the one on saturday, it seemed kinda longer. I enjoyed it. I was right in front row, I had to stand through shins, not a big fan.
If anyone has pictures of the sunday show, could you please post them?
