Bright Eyes gets out of Clear Channel Venue
"Bright Eyes will now hit St. Louis Nov. 12 at the University of Missouri’s Jesse Auditorium. Bright Eyes was originally slotted in to play the city’s Pageant that same night, but cancelled after a connection between the Clear Channel and the venue was revealed..." [Aversion]

This post cracked me up. Clear Channel is like that vintage SNL skit where the shark is knocking at the door. Or a creepy molester hanging out at the fence of a schoolyard. Here Conor, Conor, Conor.

The University of Missouri's Jesse Auditorium is actually in Columbia, about two hours away. Interesting.

The other day as people passed by him inquiring as to the location of the Warsaw, my friend found it incumbent for everyone to know it is run by Clear Channel.People were shocked.

The Clear Channel/Warsaw connection is recent (only within the last year). Before that, tickets were sold via Ticketweb. On one hand, it makes getting box office tickets for the shows there more convenient (I hate paying surchages of any sort) since they're now sold at Irving Plaza, but OTOH it's fucking Clear Channel (don't get me started on them) and now I have to contend with Ticketmaster fees (as opposed to Ticketweb's much more reasonable fees) whenever I can't make it to the box office.
Regardless, Warsaw still rules. Despite the so-so sound, it's one of my Top 3 places to see a show in NYC and judging by others' comments, I don't think I'm alone here. That guy's list was just wrong. I don't understand how any concert-goer would choose Webster Hall over Southpaw and Warsaw unless he's going purely by location and convenience.

"I don't understand how any concert-goer would choose Webster Hall over Southpaw and Warsaw unless he's going purely by location and convenience" ....and frequency of shows/talent that plays the venue.
But yeah, any place where you can see the Black Keys, drink a polish pint, and eat perogies is aces.

Wait, I'm confused... if you search for "Conor Oberst + Janeane Garofalo", you see a picture of the two of them at the Air America station... and Air America is owned by Clear Channel. It looked like it was taken around the release of "I'm Wide Awake.." so maybe did he start boycotting Clear Channel afterwards?
