Depeche Mode Video, Fake Tickets, & Stuff

DEPECHE MODE & COPS @ TOWER RECORDS, NYC | 10/18/05
Depeche Mode @ Tower Records

Depeche Mode claim the tickets on eBay for tonight's Bowery Ballroom show are fake: "There are no physical tickets for the event. There is only a guest list with the winner's names. You must have a photo ID, and your name on this list, to get in. It is not possible to buy a ticket to this event. Beware of sellers on eBay who are saying you can buy a ticket, because it is not possible."

What's more annoying? Someone selling tickets for $400 a piece, or a band lying about fake tickets? (I know they're real. They look just like mine - RSVP info. included).

* More photos of the recent Depeche Mode instore at their site.
* I've been listening to the new album. It's "eh"
* Pitchfork gave Playing the Angel a 7.0

I guess their website is somewhat disconnected from the actual event...Anyways, I'm super excited for this show. I spoke to the guys at the Bowery last night and they said the show would begin around "9 or so". I'm guessing there are no openers. Wouldn't that be a sweet irony if we had to suffer through a Bravery set?

hey dave,

i hate to burst your bubble, but the tickets won't be honored at the club tonight. no one involved with the show (band included) knew about this promotion at J&R until they gave away the tickets. those tickets will get turned away. on the back of the ticket it states that entry isn't guaranteed, which is 100% true. the security staff will have to explain this 100 times tonight... but its the breaks. its an extremely unfortunate situation, but J&R was in the wrong by giving out unathorized tickets.

sorry duder.

before anyone panics, there's probably just some confusion.

It's true the physical "ticket" that J&R gave out does not get you in. You needed to follow the directions on the back of it to RSVP and get on the list.

If even that guest list is fake, J&R is going to have some very unhappy customers, but I bet there's just some confusion because the club was told by the band that the show is "list only" and people are referring to their J&R passes as "tickets"

Yeah, that's what I was wondering...Are they denying people on the guestlist via these J&R tickets?

...but Jay works there, no? I guess he would know.

The J&R tickets will work. They were numbered tix that came with a phone number to call and RSVP to be put on the guestlist. I just called the same number just now and it is still live saying what time to arrive, etc.
