East Village Opera Company @ Joe's Pub, NYC | pics
Before the Decemberists show at Webster Hall on Wednesday night (October 5, 2005), I stopped by Joe's Pub for a performance by The East Village Opera Company. It was the record release party for their debut on Universal Records. I was curious to check out the band that "brings the towering emotion and timeless musicality of opera into the 21st century."
Unfortunately, "By embracing what Peter Kiesewalter calls 'the pomposity of rock and the pomposity of opera' without demeaning or satirizing either form," the East Village Opera Company are just playing another form of adult contemporary music that should appeal to the musical-loving, Celine Dion/Enya/Josh Grobin, crowd. I'm not saying they weren't good; I'm just saying they must have been talking to my grandparents when they said, "you’ve never heard opera rocked like the East Village Opera Company." The Eminem cover was cool though.
(Note: I am a fan of Queen, have been to the Opera, listen to some Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli on occsasion, and like musicals - especially Hedwig and the Rocky Horror Picture Show)

Me encanta este grupo soy fannumero uno , la fucion que hacen es maravillosa ,cada vez que los escucho mi corazon palpita mucho de emocion y todos mis sentidos se complacen ,este grupo es espectacular ,Tyley tiene un don para cantar y encantar extrordinario , en fin me encanta este grupo ,las voces de los dos vocalistas son bellisimas,estoy formando un club de fans,si quieren saber mas porfavor visiten esta pagina:
