hmm...does anyone know how goldfrapp is live? i dont remember her every playing here before.
i'mot gonna be playing over 35bucks for a show thats either a repeat of annie (awful live vocals) or go team (let's just prerecord the entire thing, and place a really obnoxious lead singer in front to annoy everyone)

she has played ny before, november of 2001 at bowery ballroom. i'm a bit hazy on the performance, but the bulk of material covered was from 'felt mountain', which was a bit more cerebral and subdued than 'black cherry' or 'supernature', back when she was getting comparisons to artists like massive attack. i half expect her to come out riding a unicorn made of glitter with women prancing around in deer heads this time around, but that remains to be seen.
i'd go if i were you, though. she's an amazing live vocalist.

I went to that 2001 show at Bowery Ballroom too and it was fabulous! Thanks for the tip about the pre-sale!

Correction: I saw her play at Irving Plaza in 2001. Not a venue I like but they were great.

I saw them too back in 2001. The show was great. The new videos are awesome. I think the concert will be great.

Well if it weren’t for the backup dancers the show would have been a repeat of any setting with a Goldfrapp album turned up really loud. Allison has zero stage presence, while her wind tunnel blown hair stole the show. Her vocals are too processed and unrealistic making most fans wonder if she's lip synching. The sold out crowd danced and shielded their eyes from the overly used strobe lights while the rest stared at the creatures that came out for the more upbeat numbers like Strict Machine, Train, #1 and others. Funny that when she spoke to the audience she was flattered and laughing but her voice was extremely deep and pikey, nothing like what the speakers blared out? I guess Annie should hire Goldfrapp's sound engineer and maybe her backing band as well, but leave the violinist home and tone down the wardrobe, the crowd was dolled up enough.

A little late, but Goldfrapp played at Irving Plaza in September of 2003, not 2001...unless she played there twice.
