The Save CBGB rally in Washington Square Park was over 40 days ago already (exactly how long they've been operating without a lease). Except for the mildly interesting M.E.A.N.Y Fest shows that are happening there this week, and recent gigs by Helmet and Ric Ocasek, things are pretty much back to completely boring (normal). Little Steven reminds us that there's still a fight going on...

"'As that great protest singer Yogi Berra once sang, 'CBGB ain't over till it's over,'' Little Steven Van Zandt writes in an editorial that appears in the Oct. 15 issue of Billboard, which is on newsstands today (Oct. 7).

Stressing that the club remains operational with nightly shows, the E Street Band guitarist-turned-actor, radio host and garage music flag-bearer is asking the music industry's artists and executives to join the fight with their influence and money." [Billboard]

Little Steven's nutty for sure, but you have to love his passion. Check out his recent rant to a convention of Radio professionals about the evils of "Jack" radio:

New York State should rush into law a law that forces people to match any donations to save CB's with a Red Cross donation for Katrina.

If CB's is ultimately forced out, why not pack it up and move it down to New Orleans? New Orleans is going to be re-developed as a deep South version of Las Vegas anyway.

He's gotta let this go. The place is totally irrelevant and has been for the last 20 years.

Indie yuppies rule the scene now.
