StarTime Records' Party @ 169 Bar | Professor Murder

StarTime International Records (home of Tom Vek, Brendan Benson, The Joggers, Dios Malos, etc...) is hosting a weekly (I think) party at 169 Bar. It's $3.00 for 2 bands, DJs, and an open bar.

"We’ve got two (not one but two!) great, great bands playing. The teenage power pop sensations Surefire! (Yes they really are teenagers.) And the dub-punk assault of Professor Murder. It’s going to be amazing. Great music provided in between sets and afterwards by your local heroes Eucho, Logan, and Lightning."

been wanting to catch surefire for a while. been hearing great things about them. I'll be there! hooray free beer and teenage boys!

i think 2 (maybe only 1..??) of the guys are still teenagers, but regardless of their age, they are a good rock band

surefire are good and nice guys and all, but for real P-Murd. are the stuff you can't miss. Don't pass them up just because the kids haven't been talking about them. They should be and with any luck this will be the start of something beautiful.

wow, this is like the first time youve posted about Surefire BV... i'm glad to see you've taken notice. maybe ill see you at the show...

bv doesnt like surefire. notice the posting title?
maybe if they took a que from cyhsy and got a squeeling donkey to moan over their music, bv would become a fan

well without getting into any cyhsy bashing (although i understand your point), maybe its time bv takes notice, it will be a little lame if a 'trend setting' blog (not to knock bv in any way... yet) is among the last to spot a good band. don't you think?

Kind of like how he hasn't posted about Crystal Skulls...

...but then again they haven't toured in a while and don't look like they are gonna be anytime soon.

i just heard that it will be a monthly party, not weekly.

no one's gonna read this since this post is so far down on the homepage now, but, wow, last night was a lot of fun. thanks for the head's up. surefire was pretty tight for a buncha kids and the bartender was slinging red stripes in a very timely manner. thanks again for the heads up. love the site

its too bad bv wasnt at the show to take in 2 great bands that sounded absolutely nothing like each other and didnt really make sense playing with eachother. i dont understand the "powerpop" thing for surefire, they play classic rock, but dub-punk was accurate for p-murder who had everyone (even ME!!) dancing!
