Wow. Five nights at Bowery Ballroom followed by a benefit at Bowery Ballroom followed by two shows at Symphony Space, and now a show at Lincoln Center too. It's January 14, 2006 to be exact, and tickets are already on sale. (thx Greg)

Does he play anywhere other than NYC? What about some Southern dates? Last time he was in Austin was SXSW 2004.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I believe the Allen Room has a great setting looking out over Columbus Circle and Central Park. A skim through their American Songbook series also shows Fountains of Wayne playing an acoustic set there in January.

Garrison---agreed, but he doesn't even make it to Philly much at all. He played one measly fucking show here a week ago. That's it. Get out of NYC a little, Sufjan. You might need to see other parts of the country for your little 50 states project.

Wow, people can't get enough of Sufjan Snoozins!

Any idea if he's playing this gig with the full "Illinoisemakers" crew?

Wow, that's an insanely small venue if their seating chart is to be believed... 498 people, only 14 rows of seats.

I love this guy, but man it wears on me to see his name plastered everywhere. Who woulda ever thought I'd be tired of hearing about someone like Sufjan Stevens?! And he has, what, 48 states to go?!

whatever. you complainers must be paying too much attention to this tiny world of indie music & blogs.
any hype Sufjan's getting is barely a ripple in the big, real world. reading your gripes is like listening to some high school students complain about their homecoming court.
tiny, tiny world.
p.s. sufjan is awesome.

once again the V-Man comes through! I got 2 table seats right up front, thanks for letting me know!
I agree with the last comment. Sufjan Stevens is still quite unknown in most circles. Most people I ask, even the fairly well tapped-in people, don't know him yet...

Yeah.... does anyone know who he is going to play with for this show?? and does anyone know who he is playing with this friday?? Thanks

Yeah, I realize in the larger scope of things he is less known, but I can only speak in terms of MY world, where he is plastered everywhere. And I'm not complaining in the sense of whining, just making an observation that it's worn on me a bit. Not a debatable issue, just my personal feelings on my experiences.

boy this is selling fast! I just looked at the ticketing area; only place 2 tickets together are available is in the cheapest section.
My guess is that by the end of the weekend this concert will be completely sold out.

Does anybody have 2 tickets available? I would love for them and name my firstborn child after whoever does.

I just got back from the first show. IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!
He had a string section with him and did new arrangements to the songs, giving them a much bigger, fuller sound.
The setlist was great, the setting was amazing. It was the best Sufjan show ever!!!!

That was indeed the best Sufjan show (out of 5) I've seen. The new arrangements were awesome, and the Allen Room is one of the greatest venues I've ever seen. So so good.
