BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE DOES DALLAS

Broken Social Scene added 2 NYC dates to their current tour: January 27 & 28, 2006 @ Webster Hall. (thx Chris)
---
"The band did not come without a secret weapon prepared, however, and the emergence of singer Leslie Feist to perform on '7/4 (Shoreline)' and 'Almost Crimes' energized audience and band alike. Bounding about the stage playing air guitar alongside Drew and joining in enthusiastically if inexpertly on second drums, the white-clad Feist gave the show an injection of stage presence the rest of Broken Social Scene's members rather lacked." [Billboard was at the November 1st Colorado show]
"After last night, I've concluded that Broken Social Scene is one of the few bands out there right now that can give the Arcade Fire a run for their money for the title of best live band in the world." [Gorilla vs. Bear took the above photo at the November 4th Dallas show]

Elated and deflated....happy and dejected. Thank you BSS, but why, why, WHY, WHY....WEBSTER FUCKING HALL.....

Because that's the venue that The Bowery Presents uses for shows too big for the Ballroom. Get over it.
Seriously though, this Webster Hall bitching is getting old and is way way lame. It's got its positives and negatives. MOVE ON.

yeah, i got that. thanks.

If the venue had more positives, then there would be no bitching. I saw Super Furry Animals there on Saturday night and as always, the bartenders didn't know what they were doing and the sound was muddy. To make it worse, the downstairs tap bar wasn't accessible.
Well I guess the one positive (other than the tap bar, but that was closed off) is that you can sit down if you manage to find a seat and also the coatcheck is nice and usually there's no line for it (though I didn't use it the other night; it was quite warm that day so I was sans jacket). Oh and the early start times are nice during the week (but unnecessary on a Saturday).
Still, I'm also disappointed that BSS are playing Webster Hall.

It can't get old if it always sucks. I can't stand seeing bands in Bridge-n-Tunnel clubs. Call me crazy, call me an actual native NY'er, but it is a tacky and overall terrible venue.

Then call, email, and write letters to The Bowery Presents asking them to stop hosting events there. Or just keep on spreading negativity on this blog, but IMHO, that is QUITE LAME.

Furthermore, being "disappointed that BSS are playing Webster Hall" is fine, but blaming them for playing there is something entirely different. Direct your frustration at The Bowery Presents.

Eh, I have bigger fish to fry beyond Bowery Presents. Like stopping the riots in France and promoting social acceptance and true integration of all cultures within their society, and leading them away from their zero tolerance policy that is merely fueling the animosity. But when one of your favorite band comes to town after ditching out on the first leg of the tour, you'd rather NOT see them play Webster. That's all I'm saying.

that's fine. I'm just sick of seeing all the bitching. Like I said, if you are soooo concerned (Worse than Nokia, etc.), contact The Bowery Presents instead of complaining here.

I don't know if "ditching out on the first leg of the tour" is that bad when they played a show at the Summerstage this summer. Just being the devil's advocate. You will find me at Webster for both nights regardless of the heat (it was quite hot Sat night for SFA), the horrible bartenders, and the floor that goes up and down about three inches when people bounce. I wonder how long till tix go on sale. Hope they are cheap.

hey "actual native nyer" who posted above...it sucks when people go off on so-called "bridge and tunnel"...i'm from queens. i love music, seeing shows, etc. the fact that you won't see a show at a venue because you perceive it as "bridge+tunnel" is elitist and sad.

Broken Social Scene are bad.
Webster Hall is worse.
People who consider themselves "New Yorkers" but actually grew up elsewhere, and who feel the need to bolster their identities by looking down at the "Bridge and Tunnelers" are the absolute worst.
Greetings from sunny California.

well fool. i am an actual ny'er. i grew up on the upper westside and live in brooklyn. more to the point, who the phuck asked you? i guess you are too stupid to read properly and do not understand what the word "native" means. just how stupid are you? bolster my identity? if you didn'tlive on the shitty coast you might understand why it's neccessary to differentiate yourself from transplants escaping the lameness of their home town, whether thats on the other end of the Holland tunnel or Ohio. Either way saty wher you are and keep you mouth shut boy.

I'm sorry I touched on a sore subject. Elitism is so horrible. How could I? Wah Wah!! And, dullard btw more typically refers to Dirty Jersey, but it canbe used for both. As for California? WTF? lol

maybe if you all keep bitching on here enough you'll actually shut up at the show..that would be a pleasant surprise.
