"does anyone really care about Serena Maneesh"

What are your thoughts on this band? They're discussing it at I Love Music.

i think they're great, despite the pitchfork rating.

whats funy about pitchfork is that they reallly dont know their stuff. all the articles are done seemingly by reading allmusic.com. they dont really try to understand things, but take them at face value.

not into this lp though. seems like the post shoegaze bands i couldnt stand in 94

In the site's defense, they usually beat Allmusic to the punch, so I'm not sure that jude knows his stuff either. In this instance, AMG doesn't even have a band entry for Serena Maneesh!

I care about Serena Maneesh. Alot. Their s/t is one of a few records this years that really manages to stand up a complete album, rather than a couple of good singles. I like bands that want to take you somewhere... This album has alot of good tracks, but listening to it as a whole (preferrably in headset) takes it up to a new level.

If you love MBV Loveless and similar shoegaze stuff, you owe it to yourself to hear this record. It's really unique and fresh, but it does have that early 90's sound. Even though their myspace says "gothic" this record is truly a "shoegaze" classic, if you want an easy label to help you out. Really beautiful and special.
