Mike Patton playing Tonic on New Years & Warsaw

"Mike Patton (born Michael Allan Patton, January 27, 1968) is an American musician. He is best-known as the lead singer of Faith No More from 1988 to 1998, but has also handled lead vocals for Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk and Fantômas. He often produces side projects in collaboration with other musicians, such as John Zorn, Dan the Automator, The Melvins, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Melt-Banana, Sepultura, and Merzbow, Lovage, Maldoror, Weird Little Boy, Rahzel, and Kaada. Along with Greg Werckman, he co-founded and runs Ipecac Recordings. He performed live with Amon Tobin, a.o. at the 2005 Dour Festival." [Wikipedia]

Mike Patton & Rahzel are playing Warsaw in Brooklyn on December 28th & 29th, 2005. Tickets are on sale.
Then on New Years Eve, Mike is playing two more shows at the roughly 200-capacity Tonic in Manhattan. The 7:00 PM early show is listed as "Hemophiliac: John Zorn, Mike Patton & Ikue Mori / Electric Masada." The 10:00 PM late show says "Electric Masada with special guest Mike Patton." There are a bunch of ticketing options.

Electric Masada is John Zorn's project and includes a regular cast of musicians (Zorn, Ribot, Jamie Saft, etc) and is one of the best bands to see play....would be a fun NYE show!

Anyone have an idea what the setlist is like at a Mike Patton solo show? I've heard some pretty crazy covers he's done in the past, but does he usually draw on material from his bands, the Automator stuff, or other things?

Does anyone know what sort of stuff is on the setlist at these Mike Patton solo shows? Is it stuff from his bands, his solo albums, the Automator projects or just random songs?

I have seen Mike at least six times over the past few years performing solo, as well as with various artists…both at the Knitting Factory, but also at Tonic. As far as I remember, none of the stuff that was played was drawn from any of his other collaborative projects, but mainly from his solo voice recordings. This is usually a spontaneous alliance of styles, juxtaposing Mike’s voice experiments with the particular method of the artist he is playing with. Very unique, never the same, never boring but always very stimulating. Definitely not everybody's tang, but certainly worth checking out. I have never once regretted waiting in line in the cold to see a post-midnight Patton performance on a Wednesday…I cannot imagine a better way to start off the New Year…
