The National vs. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah | Indie Rock Showdown

Clay Your Hands Say Yeah vs the National

This is so perfect. So many times I started writing a post about my disgust with the battle between indie rock fans related to the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah / National tour. Blog after blog after music site, even Pitchfork, touched on the same theme: CYHSY are the opener on the National's tour and people left after the opener and those people are freakin stupid because the National rule and maybe even CYHSY suck and on and on. I was going to compare the whole mess to sports. I never did it, partially because I didn't want to add more noise in particular to the "people leaving before the the National" part of it.

Above and below photos of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah playing the National in soccer ("Indie Rock Football Showdown") (thx Tom)

reminds me of an abercrombie and fitch ad, only with indie rockers....i'm turned on

i think that is the point. tongue in cheek. fake brawl. poking fun at everyone that made such a big deal of their tour, pitting one band against the other.

that is too funny...for the record i love BOTH bands...what a concept

>>"can they get any gayer?"<< Wow--that was insightful, Ad Rock.

Who won? Is that a National member holding the 'cup'?

the national are a much better live band than CYHSY. both times i've seen clap...they've disappointed me greatly. i do, however, like the album.

i think the point is not who's the better band, but that actually these bands are good friends, look at how much fun they are having! i read that cyhsy started covering the national's single abel towards the end of their infamous tour.i have heard the national will appear as 'special guests' at the new years eve cyhsy irving plaza show.

Very cool. CYHSY snub OC even futher by letting The Office use their music instead.

liking or hating the bands is a moot point. is there a factory that spits out indie rock -- I'm sorry -- I mean indie pop guys that look the same in every town? I've seen these same guys in like 9 different cities with different names, but the same record collections, and general disdain for anything thats not hip.
