Wasnt the whole purpose of "saving" CBGB was to save the location? Who cares about the Brand?

Exactly. This is useless... unless the BRC lets someone else lease the space who'll preserve it and book it better.
Hilly can go choke on his T-shirt money for all I care.

By the way, how the hell is frigging Blondie now going into the Hall of Fame and Patti Smith is not??? Of all the CBGBs-era artists, aside from Da Brudders, she's had by far the most impact. Yes, even more than the Talking Heads (just talk to any musician if you'd like confirmation). Not saying Blondie doesn't deserve it, but come on. Jann Wenner's an idgit.

Of all the CBGB artist Blondie had the greatest impact on the evolution of music. I think Patti Smith but her does was not nearly as varied musically or accessible. I think its wonderful that Blondie the band voted least likely to succeed has come full circle and will now be in the RandR Hall of Fame.

I love Blondie and Patti Smith's music equally. I am so happy to see Blondie get inducted before Patti only because that witch Patti should have shut her mouth in the early seventies when she told Debbie Harry to "get out of the business." Who showed who I ask you?
Patti was great, her early shows were authentically energetic. I've been to about 60 shows for each artist over 3 decades and Patti's shows have become formula. Her David Byrne hand movements, that silly clarinet she sqwaks into, her Tibetan bowl ringing and her removal of her shoes during Dancing Barefoot seem to have become her 2500th performance of Cats. Boring and predictable. GOD Horses and Easter were great...but her energy and many people's interest in her music's evolution ended there. I tried to stay into her music when she let her guitarist Oliver influence her and basically ruin her earlier messages. Blondie, conversely has stayed on top of music, has guided in a great sense. Clem Burke has got to be the greatest drummer in the business bar none. Blondie's music speaks for itself and is consistently uplifting, sometimes deep, while being tongue in cheek playful fun. Blondie did Rapture BEFORE rap was mainstream while the likes of a Madonna did Vogue 3 years after the small dance trend had passed. Get it? Blondie took a 15 year break and came back as tight as Debbie's day-glo mini to score a top 10 hit with Maria. Then again 4 more years later score a #7 dance hit with Good Boys. Who does this over three decades? Superstars who are loved by millions—that's who. ...and all this from some two bit punk band headed up by a former Playboy Bunny BIMBO. Just don't read Chris Stein's blog on Blondie.net if you want to retain a shred of respect for the band's sensibilities. He's a talented guitarist and writes awesome guitar intros...but thank GOD Deborah is the sensible voice of the band delivering to the public.
Perhaps Patti let her passion die with Fred (God rest his soul) and allowed herself to evolve into a into a Bruce Springsteen-type-phony-southern drawl singer. All in all, I think they both deserve accolades from the R&R Hall of Fame, but it's not the end of the world to not be recognized by these peeps. Or me...OR any of you. And, as Debbie's Solo tour speaker sticker used to read: Lick my Boots you Worms.
