Chad VanGaalen added to Plug Awards | VOTE

So essentially they just went down Pitchfork's "Best New Music" list for the year and nomintaed all those bands. Or was this voted on by Pitchfork? They couldn't have possibly picked a roster of bands better suited for the NPR listening set than this. I mean Spoon? Come on.

The nominees were picked by bloggers, writiers, cirtics and fans. Brooklyn Vegan even asked his readers to help make suggestions.

I mean it's not that big a deal, it's only music after all, but the picks are a little safe and obvious. I don't disagree with all the names on the list and I know now from what you've posted that it has to do with what the tastemakers chose, but a little more ethnicity and noise in the list would have made it a little more interesting. I just wish the bloggers, writers and critics could have pulled a few names out of left field to surprise us.
