Kanye West hasn't listened to Paul McCartney yet

"After loudly declaring early last week that he deserves the album of the year Grammy, Kanye West found himself backtracking a few steps after the nominees were actually announced. 'I actually haven't listened to Paul McCartney's album. I won't lie to you about that, but I will check it out because I'm not gonna go and say that I should win and I haven't listened to Paul McCartney's album,' says West..." I don't think anyone under 35 has listened to the album either.

Is it because Paul Mcartney hates black people (and carnivores)?

Posted by GOPster | December 15, 2005 11:20 AM

i'm pretty sure Kayne's is on repeat over at Paul's house.

Posted by HonkMyDong | December 15, 2005 11:26 AM

i listened to it and it's awful. of course it got good reviews 'cause people like to make paul happy. i mean he's made us very happy over the years, so why not.

You'd be amazed, Bushwick. I haven't heard it yet myself, but I have a friend who's 28 who's a huge Paul fan and he likes it a lot and he's most certainly listened to it lots.

Hey, I'm 18 and I love Paul's new album. I'm really impressed by how much work Paul put into making each song; he plays nearly every single instrument. And he obviously wrote all the songs himself. It's a really gorgeous album. I'm so glad it got nominated, not because it's a former Beatle's album, but because the music is wonderful and innovative and definitely worth a few Grammys.

hey, i heard System of a Down's new record is AMAZING! is it up for any Grammys?

he's an idiot. not for his politics but for his insane belief that he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Kanye can't rap. 'Tis true...

Nobody under 35 has listened to Paul's new album. Are you joking? I realize most 11 year-old girls are probably more familiar with Jesse McCartney than Paul McCartney, but those beyond the high school set are usually fairly musically sophisticated. I have been an insane Paul McCartney fan since I was 15 (I'm 33.)I have seen him in concert 3 times in the last few years and let me tell you, there are PLENTY of young people in his audience. "Chaos" isn't the best album Paul has ever put out, but there are a few really great songs on there. (and my kids love it...and him.) Safe to say Paul will be a legend long after everyone has forgotten who Kanye (how DO you pronounce that, anyway?) is.

Posted by Erika | December 22, 2005 10:24 PM

By the way, where did the ridiculous statement that Paul hates blacks come from? That's so completely untrue.

Posted by Erika | December 22, 2005 10:26 PM

"Chaos" rules. I was surpised by how much I liked it; I've played it about a million times, all the way through. And I'm under 35.

I believe the line is..."The only thing you done was 'Yesterday'...and since you're gone your just another day...How do you sleep at night?"

Listen to Lennon.

Posted by Anonymous | December 25, 2005 8:28 AM

Hey Mr. "The only thing you done was yesterday", give a listen to "Vanity Fair" off "Chaos". I am 34, I dig the new sounds, but Mccartney is the standard folks. Simple. I play bass because of that kat and i think i sound good, and relevant. Listen, they are both good, both on heavy rotation here. It's like comparing early motown to early beatles, just different thats all. As a matter of fact the early beatles borrowed a great deal from blues and motown, later form Dylan and Bach, so how many motown songs do you remember? And to call him a biggot or whatever is illogical. If it was not for him, you and me would likely have never even known the old blues or motown guys. They would have dissappeared in obscurity. Indeed, Paul took the music to a level not even fathomed by Lennon, and it still can be heard on "Chaos". Listen to everything and use it for thought and creativity. Kanye will likely win, but Paul's album is much more interesting and subsantial and will only ferment with age. Sing me 'Goldigger' in 20 years yo.

...furthermore, would we even know the words to Chuck Berry's "Roll Over Beehtoven" if it were not for Paul and the Beatles? Just look at the evolution of Berry's music, wait a minute, there is none. sorry. Just think what the musical and cultural landscape would look like today if it were not for the Bealtes invasion. It spawned the whole 60's movement and, consequently, certain rights and freedoms were created as a result of all the free thinking going on at the time. At that time, the U.S. was still stuck in the post war era. Just think, if it were not for Paul and the Breatles, we would still be at the malt shop driving big cars telling women how they should act, and listenting to Chuck Berry over and over and over and over and over....no freedom of thought, no creativity. As for Kanye, I can dig computer sounds, but when compared to Paul, c'mon man! Maybe i just want to be intellectually stimulated by my music thats all, but let me tell you, when it's happening, you know what i mean, I want to hear Kanye ah ya!!!Peace.

...ya and furtherfurthermore, whoever called Paul racist, listen to "Blackbird" and think of Civil Rights Black Byrd.

Posted by zaney | January 10, 2006 9:07 PM

Chuck Berry was great you can't compare rock and roll to what the Beatles did, sorry, you just can't. Different country of origin, different era, different style, Berry did what he knew the Beatles did what they knew. Personally I loathe both West and McCartney. Anyway, all I'm saying is don't downplay the importance of post-WWII rock and roll it liberated a nation, most artists don't have the longevity due to musical evolution that the Beatles had. However, not evolving your musical style does not condemn you, many "music greats" never "evolved."

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2006 9:25 PM

... oh yeah, and my music tastes may not be as "sophisticated" I guess, but I really could care less if the artist evolves, if I like the music they produce and they don't change their style to keep up with mainstream trends who care? I still get to listen to a group I like doing new material in the same style.

I second the order to listen to Lennon. Paul = painfully uninspired. As for all you oversensitive ninnies crying about thinking someone called Paul racist, ... you live under a rock. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7078580711958833612&q=kanye+bush

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2006 9:37 PM

The "racist" quip by GOPster referred only to what Kanye had to say at a recent award show regarding G.W.Bush. No one has *ever* accused Paul of being such - peace and love is what he's all about, for everyone. This is how awful rumors start!!

Posted by Gail | January 14, 2006 12:50 AM

I only hope people who hate paul so much will be able to see the world with any kind of rose coloured glasses when they reach his age, Lennon was dead years b4 he was well...why did he hate his past so much? Heroine, smack, coke? And come on, the music gets better when an artist evolves, unlike Chuck Berry, compare Choas to some of Chuck Berry's newest work, oh sorry, Berry has none. You can even hear an evolution in Bach. no ninny's here- just sunflowers, peace.

Posted by zaney | January 14, 2006 6:18 AM

No, it's true, Paul hates blacks, because he's a liberal and all liberals are the real racists because they perpetrate policies that keep the black man down by making him LAZY and a ward that lives off of the government teat!!

Posted by iloveseanhanity | January 25, 2006 3:19 PM

paul mccartney sucks, he needs to retire and then blow his brains out. why does he get to live and john lennon doesnt, paul clearly needs to drop dead and soon. fuck you paul you old , ugly, lowlife loser.

Posted by anthony | September 12, 2006 1:13 PM

paul mcartney is a twat , a loser a wife beater and hope he gets beat up

Posted by dan | January 1, 2007 5:27 AM

If it werent' for Paul we wouldn't have rock as we know it today. Helter SKelter he did in 1968
was ahead of his time. Hey Jude was written about Lennons son that Lennon himself never Payed attention to. Im A musician and can Honestly say No-one not anyone has done more for Music than the Beatles and especially Mccartney
He was the most inventive of the four and wasn't led around by a woman(YOKO) Lennon was great but a very weak man.

Posted by frank | January 27, 2007 12:30 PM

Jealousy of someone is a twat too, and I am jealous of someone as talanted, cute, and older as Paul McCartney. John Lennon and George Harrison, Ringo Star, all used drugs. Now, we're hearing that Paul and Linda were dirty housekeepers, and used drugs and that the children could even reach them off the table by a babysitter named Liz. If you ask me, if Heather Mills got in trouble for stealing cleaning fluid from Paul's estate, then I am sure their is more to a "clean" sentence than a dirty sentence by a judge in this divorce.
Funny how people shove out "shit" as if they didn't stink themselves. The only thing I'm reading from this site today, is "gold digger.

all i have to say to dan and anthony is, fuck you! paul mccartney is not a twat or a loser. He was the creative force behind most of the beatles' work, including the concept for both sgt. pepper and magical mystery tour. i enjoy his solo music greatly, both old and new. john lennon was also a vey talented musician, no doubt, but paul is my favorite. if you have any respect for the beatles or music for that matter you would not say such revolting things about a great man like paul mccartney. i think he should kick your sorry asses, because you will never create anything as great as he has. furthermore, anthony, i suggest you blow your brains out, because obviously you're not putting them to good use. go to hell. thanks to all the supporters of paul.

I personally don't like Paul McCartney's music. I think John Lennon was a lot better.
