Lady Sovereign @ Knitting Factory, NYC | pics
I finally caught Lady Sovereign at Knitting Factory Wednesday night (Nov 30, 2005). I'm happy I did.
FADER has a good review, "For the rest of her mini US tour behind the Vertically Challenged EP, Sov will just be rapping while DJ Frampster plays the tracks, as she's always done. But for this NYC date, she was backed by a band. And not just any band, but some full-on rap rockers, replete with dreadlocked 7-string slinger and a bassist with a brimmed watch cap..."
Ja Rule was there.

Isn't fader , just a pay for play magazine? i mean doesn't it just highlight cornerstone promotions PR/Marketing clients- as cornerstone and the fader are the same company? which makes me wonder why the mag is considered legit.

This show was tons of fun even if the backing band did occasionally "sound like Korn" as someone in the audience shouted. Sov's got charisma to spare! the best part was when she asked the crowd to hate on her, which was answered by silence until some other dude yelled "Sellout!" to which Sov cheekily replied "You bought the ticket."

FADER is published by Cornerstone, but they rarely cover stuff that Cornerstone works as Fader covers mostly small stuff no one has ever heard of.
