I believe I saw this task force in action three weeks ago in cobble hill at the brooklyn inn. About 35 cops descended checking for fruit flies in the whiskey. I saw them hitting another bar as I walked home.

I don't know what to think. I certianly like the idea of not having fruit flies in my whiskey. It was a bit much though.

As someone who has lived on Ave B for many years I applaud the crackdown. I am so sick and tired of dealing with drunken uptown fratboys puking, pissing and even fucking by my window all night long. Sometimes I even miss all the corner homies who used to keep the uptown yuppy trash at bay.

uhhh...obviously you dont hangout at rififi. because fratboys dont go there. fratboys stick to midtown and the meatpacking district. i was there that night. and it was ridiculous.
something was strange from the time we walked in the door that night. i dont know if someone tipped them off or what but there was this guy manning the door that i never saw before...and he was marking your hands and checking girls' purses...as many of you know this NEVER happens at rififi. usually it is this skinny dude outside who looks like he is gonna kill himself checking IDs...but he was nowhere to be found that night.
and then after being there a few hours i see cops, plain clothes cops, cops on horses, the street closed down b/c of cop cars...JUST A MESS...and ridiculous.
i'm sorry but they let underage celebs into clubs in the meatpacking district EVERY NIGHT...leave rififi alone. you know these "celebrities" get in every night and wont do a thing...but you go after rififi??? puh-leeze!
