Strokes "Secret" show in Chicago - now Sold Out
The first Strokes secret show was announced (January 3, 2006 @ Park West in Chicago), sold out, and is doing quite well on EBay. Some tickets will be available at the door, though the venue has warned that "lining up prior to 8 am will not be allowed."

Where was the show originally announced? What was the presale password? Any word on what the deal is for the NYC show?

Though it was known about for a while now, it was announced Wednesday in an email to "members" of the Q101 (local alt radio station)email list. They announced a presale of only 100 tickets that went on sale yesterday (Thursday) at 10am. (password was "juicebox") The rest of the tickets want on sale to the public today (Friday) at 10 am only at the venue's box office. Tickets were $12.
For a "small venue", the Park West is a bit roomy at about 1200 capacity.

Oh yeah, and Strokes fanclub only got an email telling them to listen to Q101 for details....pretty lame.

Here's the lowdown from the public on sale for the Chicago show this a.m.: They did it by lottery at 10am, with anyone who got there by about 9:50 getting a lottery number. Each person was allowed 2 tickets, and they were 12 bucks. They sold 500 tickets. So along with the 100 presale from yesterday, that leaves 300 for Q101 to give away, plus guest list. (my post from above was wrong about the capacity...it is between 900-1000 depending who you listen to...)
They were actual physical tickets, rather than wristband-based entry, so predictably eBay is already crawling with tickets.

The fanclub was allotted a presale this morning of about 1/3 of the tickets available.
I am not in the fanclub, but received my ticket via a fellow fanclub member. They were allotted 4 each per person.
