this lineup is looking great. This is going to be my first year going. Does anyone have any tips. Is it best to buy the badge or is the best thing to do to buy tickets to the shows you want to go to?

I was wondering the same thing. I didn't get a badge for CMJ and I got into every show I wanted to see. Is it the same for SXSW?

No, it isn't. It's pretty difficult to see shows with buying single tickets, because tickets are third priority getting in (after badges and wristbands). You could buy a badge, but they're pretty expensive. If you just want to catch shows, your best bet would be to buy a wristband. The only way you can get one is to have someone who lives here in Austin to buy one for you or go through the the city's visitor/tourism department and booking a package (hotel + wristband).
