Voxtrot @ Magnetic Field, Brooklyn, NY (12/05) | pics

Voxtrot @ Magnetic Field

I wish Voxtrot's van would permanently break down in Brooklyn so they could start a year long weekly residence at Magnetic Field. The show last night (Dec 14, 2005) was a last minute addition to their half-cancelled tour. Read all about it at singer Ramesh's blog.

worst fucking band ever. You moron bloggers hyping this shit are fucking idiots

I was there as well and the show was awesome. I ended up buying both their EP and the 7" as well! Great, great show. How come no crowd shots, BV?

Posted by incarag | December 15, 2005 12:11 PM

anonymous needs to chill the eff out, for real.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 12:29 PM

i'm kinda with anoynmous, not so wild about them. saw them play at SXSW last year and found it lacklustre...

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 12:35 PM

you guys are crazy...voxtrot is amazing, live and on record. their ep is perfect.

Posted by chris | December 15, 2005 12:38 PM

I was there too last night. I wasn't that convinced from just the recordings but they put on a fantastic show last night. Now the EP is a whole new listening experience. They are a great band, but perhaps not for everyone.

Posted by Rachael Darmanin | December 15, 2005 12:46 PM

voxtrot is terrible. It's no better than Nickelback. They may get big with their lame-ass, unoriginal sound, but that doesn't make them any cooler now.

People that are pushing this are the really big idiots though. I can't think of a better way to proclaim "I HAVE NO TASTE IN MUSIC!".

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 1:15 PM

dude, did ramesh steal your girlfriend or something? or are you jealous that you can't even come close to creating something as good as they can? or are you just a pathetic person in general? those are basically the only reasons i can think of for your virulent hatred of such an awesome band. sorry. enjoy your table for one when their EP and hopefully LP come out and they hit as the biggest band '06. you can say you hated them first, after all. jackass

Posted by john | December 15, 2005 1:23 PM

all these anonymous postings about how we (voxtrot lovers) 'have no taste in music' and are 'fucking idiots'. that's fine, don't come to the show, leave it all for those who appreciate it. you don't have to be assholes about stuff you don't like.

and the Nickelback comment is ridiculous.

have a nice day folks.

Posted by NoWonderWhyOurCountrySucks | December 15, 2005 1:24 PM

Why does that woman with blonde hair look so familiar? What band is she in?

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 1:34 PM

You are so young, so feel alive! And one day you will live on your own!

That's all I have to say... thank you Voxtrot.

Posted by Real Hope for Great Music | December 15, 2005 1:35 PM

have fun listening to Nickelback-lite with the rest of the morons

Most un-original music of 06', coming your way! Courtesy, of Voxtrot! Hooray!

This just proves that every self-loathing hipster loves shitty pop music at heart. At least, with this music and your proclamations, you can come out of the closet!

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 1:44 PM

steal ramesh's girlfriend? Isn't he gay?

Posted by huh? | December 15, 2005 1:48 PM

with all the crap out there you people have something against these guys? wow, get a grip. you seem scared and insecure deep down inside. hopefully puberty will cure some of those ills for you....mama's gonna get you that firetruck you've always wanted....

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 1:55 PM

only a homosexual could play music that gay

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 1:55 PM

That's Andrea Vaughn, who used to be the singer of My Favorite.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 1:59 PM

this is the clear cut representation of all the crap that is out there.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 2:00 PM

what bands do you like? what SHOULD we be listening to? enlighten us.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 2:06 PM

why do people rush to something so fast just to be in the first wave of backlash? is that cool or something? i don't get it.

anyway, Voxtrot is a solid band with great potential in their future EP and LP, and hopefully beyond. that's my story and i'm sticking to it.

Posted by patrick | December 15, 2005 2:10 PM

rush to something to be part of the backlash? No one knows who the fuck voxtrot is, and hopefully never will. The only reason they'll ever "make it" is because they are so unoriginal that radio stations may be willing to play them.

They fucking suck, i've seen them twice now, and they were god-awful both times. spare me your "rushing to be part of the backlash" talk.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 2:52 PM

dude, I really don't care what you have to say about Voxtrot, or anything else for that matter. you're clearly a giant asshat, and your opinion is meaningless to me.

spare me your existence.

Posted by patrick | December 15, 2005 3:42 PM

this has to be one of the more entertaining threads. why does this guy (who clearly has some bizarre grudge) keep going to see a band that he practically wants to assassinate to save their music from everyones ears?? and pulling out 'asshat'! i havent heard that in like five years. perfect description nonetheless.

Posted by john | December 15, 2005 4:05 PM

asshat. nice. Only internet losers ever actually used that word.

way to go fucktard.

I've seen them twice on people's recommendations, and when other (better) bands were opening for that pile of shit.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 5:12 PM

people that insult bands without naming any bands that they think are better are irrelevant

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 5:39 PM

i think pretty much every band is better than voxtrot.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2005 6:55 PM

this guy is hilariously retarded. he either cant or refuses to articulate anything bad about the band. sorry but 'unoriginal' and 'pile of shit' are about the laziest, most unoriginal comments anyone, especially a music critic, can make about something. what makes it unoriginal? what would you rather listen to? all bands have influences, that doesnt make them unoriginal. what is so unoriginal about voxtrot? please explain. and why couldnt you even name a single band that's better? what on earth kind of music do you listen to? no one has any idea. and why are you anonymous? basically, i just have one question: what the fuck is the matter with you?

Posted by matt | December 15, 2005 7:55 PM

seriously.

Posted by patrick | December 15, 2005 8:40 PM

When I first heard Voxtrot's Ep I wasn't very impressed. Their sound was all to familiar: the Smiths meet Belle and Sebastian with a splash of the Cure. I wrote them off as another flash in the pan copy-cat band. But then I thought, "Wait a minute...I love all those bands. I should give them another try." And I did. And now I love them.

Voxtrot may not be pushing any boundaries, and they may be borderline pop music, but they put on a good live show and they sure are a lot of fun.

Another Nickelback-lite, please.

Posted by chris | December 15, 2005 10:27 PM

nickelback comment is perplexing. dudes are from austin, don't have shitty beards or muscles for that matter.

good band, good tunes. may not change your life, but they'll make you move a bit and feel good. and they're all cute as a button and ostensibly gay as pink ink.

Posted by dk | December 16, 2005 1:31 AM

the fact that he didn't drop one band that he thinks we should be listening to speaks volumes. and he loves the reaction he has received from his asinine comments. that's what he's after. i actually kinda feel sorry for the bands he does like.

why should i list bands i like? I like everything for the most part.

but this, this travesty of a band, is shit. You people have the worst taste in music.

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2005 9:31 AM

thank god you're awake dana

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2005 9:43 AM

Voxtrot is a great band with quite a unique sound. As per comments left by Rachael Darmanin, go take a look at her self proclaimed "underrated" blog and look at the crap she likes. Its mind boggling some of the aweful shit she hails as great music. Total rubbish. Don't take my word for it, go read her blog and see for yourself (it's good for a laugh).

Everytime I see Voxtrot, they always blow me away with an unstoppable amount of energy, talant, and unbelieveable songwriting talanet.

Can't please everyone, especially not the sad little rich kids in Brooklyn that are trying oh, so hard to make by running some 4th rate, poorman's Pitchfork blog.

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2005 10:43 AM

Anonymous comments aren't worth shit. Summon up some courage, and try again, kids.

Posted by J | December 16, 2005 11:01 AM

what the fuck is the difference whether or not i tell you my name is Rob or Jason or something else? Yet another moronic comment from a Voxtrot fan. Surprise surprise.

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2005 11:23 AM

The one thing I can't wrap my head around is:

Why do you CARE so much if people like this music?

Posted by patrick | December 16, 2005 11:45 AM

The difference -- and you should really chew your food before you swallow -- is that, with a name or a link, we can contextualize your comment. We can say, 'Hey, that's X. He was right about that Q Band I also hated.' Or 'Hey, that's X. He's just a dismissive asshole.'

All anonymous commenters are the same nobodies.

You think everyone who disagrees with your attitude is a Voxtrot fan? I'm not. I think the songs are bouncy and catchy; when I saw them live they lacked oomph... but that was an afternoon CMJ gig. I'd give them another chance; they just have to stop playing Wednesday nights.

Posted by J | December 16, 2005 11:56 AM

What a sec... Rachael likes Voxtrot: "they put on a fantastic show last night. Now the EP is a whole new listening experience."

So for Anonymous #X to say "Voxtrot is a great band with quite a unique sound" and then "look at the crap [Rachael} likes," seems to me to be a little paradoxical.

When did this thread turn from Anonymous Voxtrot-haters bashing the band, to Anonymous Voxtrot-fans bashing other fans?

Posted by jerry | December 16, 2005 12:25 PM

Wow. This thread is out of control! If you don't like Voxtrot don't listen. And if you don't like my blog, don't read it!

Why is everything so difficult?

Well, if you laugh at my blog, I consider it successful. Thanks.

Posted by Rachael Darmanin | December 16, 2005 12:39 PM

Definitely one of the better BV comment threads in some time. Patrick's salient point has been unresponded to: why does this anonymous fuckfoot care if anyone else likes Voxtrot? Methinks someone is feeling insecure because he isn't on the bandwagon, and needs to be on it to self-validate. Clearly there is some psychosis here. He's projecting some sort of emotional issue onto Voxtrot. Poor anonymous fuckfoot.

Also, I agree with Jerry that the Rachael bash was un-necessary. She didn't say she hated them. Christ, people.

For me? I've heard one song by Voxtrot--"The Start Of Something". It's great. Looking forward to more. The Smiths similarities are there, but I am ok with that since THE SMITHS BROKE UP NEARLY 20 YEARS AGO.

Posted by Matt | December 16, 2005 9:01 PM

good grief. amid the hype, it seems to have been forgotten how young Voxtrot really is. they're catchy as all-get-out already -- imagine what they'll do when they really grow into their sound. premature backlash is such a waste of time and energy.

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2005 4:16 AM

Dear Anonymous,

You must be really bored.

Love,
Ramesh

Posted by Ramesh | December 18, 2005 1:53 PM

omg! Voxtrot is so great. Anonymous what are u talkin bout? they are so great! their so hot and stuff too.

next big mtv band for sure!

Posted by Anonymous | December 18, 2005 6:44 PM

It would funny as shit if "Anonymous" is Voxtrort. hahah

Posted by Anonymous | December 19, 2005 11:29 PM

VOXTRORT!

Posted by Anonymous | December 28, 2005 2:33 PM

Voxtrort opened for Dildo-Würm a couple months ago. It's Ramesh's heavy metal side project.

Posted by jerry | December 28, 2005 3:45 PM

Now for something completely different:

Voxtrot are just okay folks. They're not terrible, but they aren't great either. Yes, they have potential as a cute MTV 2 alt-boy-band. Does that mean they are great? The songs are okay, but formulaic (B&S) The lead singer is a fairly talented individual, but their whole "high energy" act comes off as if it's been rehearsed to death. The bass players big smile, the lead singers little hop. Maybe in 3 or 4 years, but right now...no. Did I mention that they are derivative? I think that the premptive backlash is coming from people who know that a record label who gets a good look at these young guys will get their wheels spinning...not because of the music, but because of the "cuteness" factor. They are marketable, no doubt. That annoys some people, and why shouldn't it?
