Not sure how this suddenly made the news, but anyway, "The lads were really embarrassed. They didn't think anyone would turn up to see them in New York, never mind a legend like David Bowie."

Posted by johnnylaw | January 27, 2006 3:24 PM

I think No. 7 should be "Who are the Arctic Monkeys?" Sarcasm never goes over well on the web.

The Arctic Monkeys suck

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2006 3:36 PM

Clap Your Hands suck Arctic Monkey dick.

Stroke my Arctic Monkey with your Clap Hand

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2006 3:39 PM

Every Arctic Monkey song seems decent until you listen to the underdeveloped lyrics. That sinks this HOT band du jour. Pass

Posted by dbriel | January 27, 2006 3:45 PM

They are too collegiate.

What about Number 8, my personal all time favorite all-purpose comment:

They are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO over.

Posted by Max Power | January 27, 2006 4:05 PM

I just want to know why so many music blogs seem to peddle the crap bands that have already been overhyped by NME and why so many bloggers seem to have only gotten really into bands like two years ago and appear to lack the historical context with which to judge the merits of these new bands. Instead we find bands like the Arctic Monkeys and Editiors being showered with hyperbolic praise for being "stunning." Are most music bloggers just really young or am I too old or is it a little bit of both?

Posted by will | January 27, 2006 4:06 PM

Dude, that's one long sentence. I don't pay attention to hype, I listen to music. It always comes down to that. Now, excuse me, I have to get my books from my locker before I head to gym class.

Posted by musicsnobbery | January 27, 2006 4:16 PM

hype!

Posted by cranky | January 27, 2006 4:21 PM

ditto musicsnobbery...sans the book comment of course. i've got nap time coming up :)

Guys, I'm a sad teenager living in a sad small town and I love the Arctic Monkeys because they speak to me loneliness and despair! Stop making fun! Wankers.

This post is something Pitchfork would do.

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2006 7:06 PM

Who the fuck are the Artic Monkeys?

And secondly, why do they have such a crap name?

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2006 7:40 PM

i feel like the biggest loser when i even play their music. i'd rather listen to dick cheney's ass.

Posted by arctic bullcrap | January 27, 2006 8:22 PM

I just don't get it.

Posted by R | January 27, 2006 10:34 PM

Posted by hall monitor | January 28, 2006 12:40 PM

Why don't you just rename this site Arctic Monkeys?

Posted by shadow | January 28, 2006 4:55 PM

Arctic Monkey's are badass

Posted by BB | January 29, 2006 10:45 AM

Arctic Monkeys prove that this January is not only boring but those fortunate enough to be alive are reaching for something, anything to take their minds off of the state of this planet. Have you heard the latest about Brad and Angelina?? Same difference.

Posted by lew sipher | January 29, 2006 4:12 PM

Who the fuck are the Arctic Monkeys?

They actually have a song called this, believe it or not.

Posted by emily | January 29, 2006 4:46 PM

At one point in the inteview Nic Harcourt is clearly trying to get them to tell the story about making Bowie move back, but they weren't biting...

Posted by birdboy | January 30, 2006 6:48 PM

Clap the Arct...awww, nevermind.

Posted by Ryebread | February 1, 2006 1:13 AM

they are a very poor band with one good song.

Posted by jon | February 6, 2006 11:48 AM

I'm english *gasp* and I know they suck. One-hit wonder taken further...and never should have. It's like The Village People all over again. :p

Stupid american fools

Posted by me | February 18, 2006 4:43 PM

Maybe they have a shit band name, maybe you don't like their music, but not everyone can sell 360,000 discs in only one week, you must admit it.

Posted by someone | February 25, 2006 12:34 PM

I'm english and I would like to apologise for all the crappy bands we send you overhyped by NME arctic monkeys kaiser chiefs editors etc give me yyys clap your hands rapture or interpol anyday

Posted by al | March 12, 2006 10:11 AM

The Arctic Monkeys are the worst band I have ever seen live. Just saw 'em tonight at the 9:30 club in DC. Unbelievable how many people were there for that lousy, overpriced show. If I had actually paid to get in I would have been really pissed. They should stop making "music" immediately. Serious.

Posted by matt | March 28, 2006 12:13 AM

i love the people on here, who say they hate arctic monkeys in an attempt to be different, why? just admit you like the fucking band and get over it, they are awesome.. and lets face it, none of us could write lyrics as good as they do, and considering 3 years ago none of them could play guitar or drum, theyre pretty fucking good in my book

Posted by Ted | March 30, 2006 2:21 PM

it aint theyre fault theres so much hype. they dont milk every opportunity like every other band, theyre all about playing good gigs and good music, if u can tell me a band that plays better live than them, then id love to hear it. go on the lads!

Posted by bobby | March 31, 2006 11:44 AM

Arcade Fire plays better live

Posted by Dude | April 10, 2006 11:05 PM

The Arctic Monkeys are only big because they arrived just in time for the media to herald the internet as the new thing when it comes to promoting music. If they were about two years ago everyone would have told them to go home and learn something new instead of regurgitating the same old industrial rock tripe that comes out of mainstream England (I'm Irish by the way). Try out the Coral, who although not being great, are better than that tripe or the Basement.

Posted by eman | April 26, 2006 10:10 AM

arcitc monkeys rock.
end of story.

ps. whoever made this site...
remove it. i feel embarrased for you that you're so pathetic and sad in your little corner writing shit about the best band ever (who has talents) when i dont see your fucking face on any magazines or you playing anything half-decent. go to the bathroom, look at yourself in the mirror and be reminded about who you are and where you stand before dissing a band that very likely would be REALLY succesful in future (more than they are now!). and chances are if you're dissing them you're probably not much of a looker. alex turner<33. im out

Posted by sfas | August 26, 2006 2:19 PM

The only thing I can credit the Arctic Monkeys with is creating a phonomenon entirely out of pretension and marketing campaigns on the part of their friends NME and those other bullshit magazines and tv channels.

Not that I'm personally a fan, the Coral are ok.And the Arcade Fire suck.

Posted by Deth | May 7, 2007 4:18 PM

these lads are still better than any of you weenies that talk the shizzie . about them.where r they and where r u ....My dog farted ...damn

Posted by weezy | June 5, 2007 1:58 AM

OK, there are millions of bands who can play better live than the arctic monkeys. Also, just because a band is all over the front cover of your magazine etc doesn't mean that they're a good band. Plus I've been playing guitar and piano for two and a half years, and I'm a much better musician than any of them.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2007 7:00 PM

ok, they're not totally shit but its pretty low level stuff and a complete joke compared to the best music humanity or even sheffield in the last 20 years has come up with, i for one refuse to believe that this is the best thing this entire generation has to offer, something must be wrong, we better produce something good soon or we'll be like the crap 80s generation (mabye its 'cos they are the twats who run the uk music industry!)

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2008 6:19 AM

not too bad
nice!! i can't express how much I love IT, oh yeah, the nation are pretty good too.

Posted by WOW GOLD | December 3, 2008 12:43 AM
