Cat Power playing NYU, David Byrne there last night
Bao wrote in, "I was attending the DJ Spooky "Birth of a Nation" event last night at NYU (David Byrne was also in attendance) and before the show started, the President of NYU's student run Program Board indicated that Cat Power will be playing NYU's Kimmel Center on Feb. 16th. I'm not sure if she is playing the Skirball Center or the Eisner and Lubin Auditorium. I believe that tickets will be on sale to the public since nearly all NYU shows are."

Jeese, I remember Cat Power playing a NYU show in 2000 with Bright Eyes and Britt Daniel opening. Imagine that bill nowadays! She was horrible. Must have been tails.

I called the box office and they said it IS CANCELLED. That stinks. Town Hall is cancelled as well. The box office aslo said that they weren't given a reason for the cancellation. Crazy shit!

oh that sucks! i was going to try to get town hall tix (i misread she was going to be at joe's).
maybe all those studio musicians didn't want to come up to nyc? or maybe chan got the heebeegeebees, or maybe she wanted to go to europe? or... i saw her once at the middle east in cambridge, i think she played 3-5 songs, and it was pretty bad, but i thought after 6 years, and this great record, with those MGs, etc. - it would be different. Maybe not.

here's some speculation: perhaps 'the greatest' is doing better than expected, and now cat power don't have to put on a show. knowing cat power's performance track record, it could be possible (only put on a show if absolutely need the money?); or now that the record is doing so good (is it?), cat power couldn't do it justice live?
