Tapes 'n Tapes @ Mercury Lounge, NYC | pics

3 for 3 (tapes 'n tapes 'n tapes)

Tapes n Tapes @ Mercury Lounge

I probably didn't need to go see the same band three nights in a row. Maybe it was an overdose. The high was just too good at Pianos the night before. I wanted to do it again. Unfortunately this show at Mercury Lounge (January 9, 2006) didn't have quite the same effect. It was still good, and it was still better than the Delancey though.

Three nights in a row Tapes 'n Tapes filled the room, and there was cheering, and they had stage presence, and there was dancing, and they were happy, and they were thankful. Their seemingly-jazz-trained drummer is especially fun to watch. Last chance to see them in NYC is Thursday (I most likely will not be there). Before that they'll be in PA & MD. If you're going to SXSW, you can see them there too; they just got accepted.

* The Underrated Blog was at The Delancey show. So was Yeti and Central Village for Gothamist and Ryan Freshbread.

* Nora was at Pianos and so was Heartonastick.

you know i kind of think people will label any brown haired boy with glasses as harry potter these days. like that guy in bloc party...

that's exactly what i thought, nora. jjjay and I thought if he just took off his shirt, he'd be the drummer in bloc party.

I was at the show last night and was dissapointed in their set. While "Insistor" was pretty great, some of their songs were downright cheesey (sp?), especially the first song when he said "wooh" about 20 times.

well...having missed their other shows this past weekend because i was out of town, i was very happy to be able to catch them last night. and i was not disappointed except maybe a bit by the fact that they didn't play "50's Parking". man, wtf.

I was at both the Piano's show and Mercury last night. I'm not sure what it was, but the Piano's show was better by far. I don't know if it was the space itself that made it better or the crowd, but, something was missing last night. It seemed like they started off really slow at Mercury and came off a little anxious, but it did get better later in the set. I was on the fence about going to Mercury last night because of how good the Piano's show was. Hopefully, the next time they come around everything will be back on track.

I caught the Pianos show without having heard any of their stuff. VERDICT: I could tell they had some good/interesting songs, and their performance was good but I got bored about halfway, then got back into it the last song or so. They're good with potential for more. How's the album?

I attended this show and I don't understand the attraction of this band or bands of Tapes 'n Tapes' ilk. It seems to be fairly average indie-art rock to me. I don't get a lot of bands others swoon over but the suddenness with which this band has achieved blogoshere notoriety is vertiginous.

Hello to the Everybody!!!!

I am reading the blogs of the internets and I am saying: Everyone should just relaxing!! They are good [Tapes 'n Tapes], you're good also, and everybody is very good. You too is good!

What is the happening to the days of when everybody just get to along?? And playing the music? Also, it is nice that people have opinion too. So if you don't like it, is OK. But you should not to be mad at the people who are like it cool a lot or even the little!

P.S (Tapes sucks)
(PPS Tapes is not sucks)
That's what I'm talking about it!
