For some recent contests, I asked you to tell me some of your favorite musical moments from 2005. Here's one of the answers I received that deserved its very own post. I'll be collecting/posting more over the next few days...
Well... my favorite musical "moment," if you'd like to call it, happened this past summer. I was sitting in my home i northern New Jersey, when I happened upon information about a Ted Leo concert that would be taking place that night at CBGB's (it was one of those Save CBGB's nights, and had come up on very short notice). Unbeknownst to my mother, I decided to call up two of my friends and see if we couldn't get some tickets at the door. I drove, and we got there barely before doors. Outside, there were lots of television cameras for the news shows covering the whole CBGB's fiasco. Anyway, after seeing Ted outside, we were able to get tickets. The show was good, and long, including five openers. Ted closed with a cover of "Dancin' in the Dark," which was terribly amazing. After leaving at about 1 in the morning, I found that my car was no where to be seen.
I had to call 911 and when the police came, they confirmed that my car was towed. I was forced to use my last dime for a cab up to the tow pound. When we got there, I was confronted with at $185 fee just to get my car out of tow, not including the $115 parking violation, and since the car was not registered to me, but my mother, I couldn't use credit. Fortunately, my friend walked up 4 blocks to use an ATM machine at the nearest ferry station, and he fronted the fee. We all got back home at about 3. My mother, who was going to work, woke me up at about 8, asking why I had called 911, as she apparently gets an email when I dial it on my cell phone. I was able to talk my way out of it somehow, even in my exhausted state. She bought it and I went back to sleep. After getting up later on, I got a call from my mother at work. She asked if I had been at CBGB's last night. Of course I denied it, but apparently someone told her they same me outside of CBGB's on TV that morning!

Hey! Cool it! You're supposed to call 911 when you get towed.
