"...investigators on a fur farm in Midland, Michigan, saw chinchillas who were being electrocuted, causing painful seizures to the animals’ hearts, and having their necks snapped while completely conscious. Animals killed for their skins—including chinchillas, foxes, minks, and raccoons—currently receive no federal protection from the kinds of abuses that our investigators witnessed..." "...chinchillas who were being electrocuted, causing painful seizures to the animals’ hearts, and having their necks snapped while completely conscious"

And that's after being SKINNED ALIVE. And being forced to watch episodes of "Joey."

They make good for mighty good eatin', though. I go through 'em like popcorn.

Heh, I think this is the first post of yours that is more vegan than music.

It really doesn't matter if the coat is real or not, because by wearing it she is implicitly approving of the use of animals for the purpose of clothing.

since there doesn't exist a filtering software that will weed out A-HOLE comments like a couple of the above, methinks brooklyn vegan should dispense all together with the 'comment' feature.

I was really hoping to get 5 or 6 Stones song in the set. As good as they sounded, it was really disappointing to just get two obvious choices and one off the new album. I guess they were trying to please the label and Joe America but come on, a little Rip This Joint would have been nice.

AS GOOD AS THEY SOUNDED?! Mick was D.O.A. - he was the dead man they made come. If there was a committee in charge of the whole "World's Greatest Rock n' Roll Band" thing, they would've stripped the Stones of their certificate right then and there. Jagger quite clearly couldn't have made it through five or six songs. It was an incredibly pathetic performance.

Wilson Pickett would have been a livelier halftime act.

Can we finally just acknowledge that chinchillas make great coats?

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2006 7:32 PM

Can we finally just acknowledge that we should be grateful Aretha didn't have a wardrobe malfunction this year?

Come on Patrick. What kind of rubbish is that?

I had never heard the national anthem turned in to a gospel number. I can't tell if I liked it or not. But, yeah, no Aretha wardrobe malfunction. There is a God.

She is the master of soul. She sung a soulful national anthem. Did you all know all anthems my great woman are pre recorded except this one. Mariah, Whitney, were pre recorded. Aretha is the Queen of Soul and went for it.

I'm sure an entire Phylum became extinct just to make a coat that would fit her. She really does suck as a singer too, just make the realization and move on.

Aretha Makes PETA's 'Worst-Dressed' List

NEW YORK (AP) — PETA thinks Aretha Franklin is no queen of soul when it comes to wearing fur. Franklin was crowned this year's worst-dressed celebrity by the animal rights organization. Her crime: wearing "yet another vulgar fur" at the Grammy Awards.

"... you looked as if you were going to perform `I Am the Walrus' by the Beatles," People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said Wednesday of Franklin's appearance. "You might be a queen, but you don't know jack about compassion."

"How 'bout some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for animals?" PETA added.

The other offenders are Marilyn Manson, Eva Longoria ("in her trashy furs, she looks like the streetwalker of Wisteria Lane"), Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue.

PETA called Minogue cold-blooded for toting a python purse. As for Lohan, the group remarked: "`I Know Who Killed Me' isn't just the title of Lindsay Lohan's latest bomb, it's the cry of the animals snuffed out so this `Mean Girl' can pose in their pelts."

Christina Ricci, Martha Stewart and Alicia Keys have said they've given up wearing fur since being singled out by PETA in previous years.

PETA asked people to vote on the Web site Fur Is Dead.

The group said it took Britney Spears out the running because they didn't want to kick her while she's down.

I can't believe that she got to be name-called for a coat.Maybe it's a fake. She is the queen of soul music and she gets trashed for this. It's not like she murdered those animals.
