BSS' Kevin Drew Loves You @ Webster Hall, NYC | pics

Broken Social Scene @ Webster Hall

"huh? I loved the show! I thought that it was wonderful! My back didn't appreciate the whole 2-3 hours worth of standing it had to endure, but my ears and my heart were loving every bit of it! Despite less than satisfactory sound levels or mixing or who sang what or whatever, it was a very enjoyable and memorable show. A violinist, six or more guitarists, an awesome horn section, every percussive instrument you could possibly imagine, and hugs all around from Kevin? A wonderful show indeed." They were so good. Really.

They sounded fantastic on Conan tonight. It was great to see Feist and Jason there. I wish they were all touring together, but at least I have another show to look forward to next week. There was a guitarist on the left side whom I didn't think was at the Webster shows, but I could be making that up.

let's talk some arctic monkeys

That dude is so brutal. Why can't he just play his music and leave? All this talking and hugging- is it really necessary? I don't think his little pop band is nearly as important as he thinks it is.

I think the phrase "Presidents of their own Fanclub" summed it up best

yeah, seriously, what the fuck? why can't everyone be miserable with their lives like us.

'a load that should have been swallowed' sums up a few of you.

well I hope all of you assholes think twice about what you said about Kevin Drew. He is down to earth and fucking awesome as hell and I hung out with him after one show and they were all really humble. The only thing they care about is making good music, connecting with real people, and meeting fans who appreciate real artists who recognize the fans that make them who they are. They aren't some too good for life band, in fact meeting Kevin and Brendan was the best night of my life. They were incredible musically and emotionally.

all i know is that they were good live, on friday night they didn't babble on and on for too long, and it was nice to be hugged. let's stop taking everything so seriously, yes? yes.

Cassandra- Once you grow up, you're going to be really embarrassed by all of this.

Sincerely,
Anyone who is not 23 and living in Williamsburg.

Nice article in Sunday Times magazine on BSS. Still free to read at this time.

Guided by (Many, Many) Voices

Ten minutes before Broken Social Scene was due to go onstage, Kevin Drew, co-founder and lead singer of the Toronto band, had his hands up on the wall. He was clad, as usual, in baggy jeans, a moth-eaten black sweater and torn-up sneakers, a dime-store diamond on his pinkie. A woman in silver boots briefly massaged his shoulders. Nearby stood her boyfriend, Brendan Canning, who founded Broken Social Scene with Drew, his strawberry blond hair dangling toward the floor as he tried to touch his toes. Sliding closer to Canning, the band's soft-faced drummer, Justin Peroff, gave him an assist, as Leslie Feist, an occasional singer with BSS, brushed past. "Feist-y!" Drew squealed and hugged her. Her own chanteusey album, "Let It Die," had just gone gold in Canada and Europe.

Everyone was jammed together in the windowless, cluttered basement of an Ontario college auditorium, as band members stretched out or kneaded one another's backs or just sat drinking beers in chairs. (more)

"or maybe he's just a fucking sweetheart of a guy that likes to hug and share the love ..."

That's exactly what he is and what he was before BSS...

A message to "Chris"

This may be 3 years later but go back to listening to the Killers or whatever shallow fucking music that's made you the obvious cunt you are.

Kudos to Cassandra for standing up and providing a legitimate comment regarding the events photographed in this entry.
